    They are the exact same motor.----Different color paint !!----If motor is " hard " to start then the wrong starting procedure is usually the issue !

    1975 85hp. No spark

    It won't be weak magnets.----Charge battery.-----Load test battery.----Take starter apart for inspection / ohm test on armature.----No beer tokens spent to do that testing.

    Should be a hose going from it to a nipple near bottom of airbox.-----Why would you do a VRO swap and primer solenoid rebuild?

    It is a blown head gasket or motor needs a rebuild.----Simple as that.

    Remove bypass covers and inspect pistons / rings.----Cost you 4 gaskets at $4 each.

    Older Carb Experiences

    There is not much that can go wrong with these simple carburetors.-----It is the last thing I worry about when working on older motors.-----A carburetor is a simple / crude device that responds to air flowing through a venturi.-----Much overthinking on them.

    The 2 yellow wires go to a rectifier change AC to DC .----So yes , the stator charges the battery.

    I have seen that melted washer many times.----Perhaps there are pieces of impeller stuck somewhere.
