    Aggressive old days coming back??

There was a bit more tolerance for very lightly political threads these past few days.Everything stayed very friendly and respectful.Quite honestly,I really enjoyed.Treedancer came down from his evergreen tower and seemed to yearn for some civilized confrontation.Plywoody started climbing in his...

    rolmops versus apple 1-0

I asked my daughter what she wants for her birthday and she said:"I want an Iphone".So off I went to AT&T to buy an iphone. I was told that unless I sign a 2 year agreement they wont sell me one and was assured that nobody can buy one in the USA without an AT&T agreement. So I went to the apple...

Renault Nissan in combination with a silicon valley company are putting a new sedan on the road.It is fully electric and will cost just as much as a regular sedan. The range is 125 miles but they claim that new range extending technology is rapidly becoming available. Do I need gaskets for water pump housing?

This is about a straight six Volvo Penta AQ165.A friend of mine tried to repair his waterpump, then in the middle had to move and during the move he lost the housing and forgot what it looked like. I got him a new housing and all the innards, but upon installing it he did not remember whether the...

    California salmon.

I just heard on the radio that all the California coast and part of Oregon will be off limits for both commercial and recreational fishing for salmon. It seems that the salmon population has imploded. Interestingly, most commercial fisher men support the ruling. Californians if you heard...

    Remote Controls

I just had to replace an ignition switch on the remote control of a 1979 70 horse Johnson.(I broke the other one trying to "repair" it).Anyway,I got the new one, OMC,not after market, in the mail and supposedly it replaces all ignition switches from 1977 to 1996. The original ignition switch...

My tulips are a deer's favorite food.

Last fall I covered all my bulbs with a nice layer of fluffy mulch and sure enough, they started stirring under this nice blanket by the end of February.During most of March they were protected by a foot of snow, but now the snow is gone and the southern exposure is doing its work.Just 3 days ago...

    Humminbird 575.

I have been looking to replace my old fish finder and the humminbird 575 strikes my fancy, but neither Pro bass shop nor Gander mountain offers them in their stores and it seems that the only way to get them is online. Is there some hidden defect that caused this fish finder to be hard to get in...

    Blue fin tuna population collapsing.

I was listening to an NPR report about mercury in tuna fish and one of the things mentioned was that fully one third of our blue fins reproduce in the Mediterranean where they are being slaughtered while breeding and the rest reproduces in the Gulf of Mexico where they are caught on long lines...

So you think big oil did better?

Ha,I did much better than that. This year I more than DOUBLED my profits on Ebay. From $11.50 to $23.30. That is over 100% increased profit while my overall revenue is smaller. Big oil can't hold a candle to that sort of profit percentages.

    steering cable

I am considering changing from an old steering cable system to either a rack or rotary system. So far I found out that a rack is a bit cheaper but not enough to be a mayor factor. Could any of you gurus tell me the pros and cons of the two systems? I intend to use one of them on a 17 foot 1964...

    fuel effiency and fuel prices.

As some of you may know I have been in Europe in December and I did see a lot of things that are dealt with in a different way than they are here. One thing is fuel prices. In the Netherlands one liter (roughly a quarter gallon) of gasoline costs 1.60 Euro ($2.40) or about $9 per gallon. So they...

Changing a flat bottom,to prevent sideways sliding.

I have this beautiful 17 foot Duratech Orion, but she has a few serious control problems. Instead of cutting through a wave like most deep Vs do,it slides off sideways specially when she is on plane.Every time she hits a wake wave I have to slow down to a crawl in order to keep going where I want...
