    On my compression tester a good one of those shows 120 PSI all day long.----You have a bad gauge , bad test procedure or your motor is JUNK !!!----In what manual did you read that 72 PSI is factory spec.----Just plain nonsense to me.

    Do a careful inspection of the cable from the red plug to the control box.----The motor cable is only to be used for the motor power needs and instruments.----All other stuff needs a separate , fused power supply from battery.

    ???----That is way too low !!!!!-----We can not see , hear or touch your motor.-----You are reporting compression values tested by you.-----And they indicate motor needs lots of work.

    I sometimes say that I wish I could buy a new 1963 Pontiac.-----You could see every corner of the car for parking.----Easy to figure out the manual controls for heater, wipers, lights and radio .-----Would start to complain at 60 MPH so speeding did not happen

    Well----70 PSI is way too low.----Should be around 120 PSI.-----Time to remove a cylinder head for inspection.-----You may not like what you see.----Post pictures when head is off this motor.

    School was a long time ago.----Forgot that a US gallon is 128 ounces and not 132 ounces.

    ???----Are you sure on the $4.69 / oz -----Seems 1 US gallon would be 132 X $4.69 I think.-----An imperial gallon would be 160 X $4.69

    The hose from the carburetor FEEDS FUEL to the enricher.-----The enricher is NOT a pump that fills the carburetor !

    Proper marine gear oil is cheap compared to gears / bearings and shafts.----If no water gets in it is good for 3 seasons for most folks.

    Mark flywheel with TDC for each cylinder.----Then check where each is firing using a timing light.
