    Fuel tank removeal

"98 Sea Ray Express" does not tell people much . . . Could be 22 feet, could be 37 feet  I'm guessing more like 37 feet if you have diesels If it has an aft berth, chances are you will have to cut the bease and bulkhead of the aft berth in order to clear the tank. Otherwise, you...

    Engine Starting Issue

There are typically two (2) voltage references that the PCM is looking for . . . 12 volts and 5 volts. You will get warnings if your 12 volt source is too low and at some point (10.7 volts IIRC) the engine may shut down.

Correct time to winterize stern drive engine?

This time of year can be tricky because you could get a few 'cold' days where the temperature drops below the normal lows. So, it is best to drain as much as you can and keep an eye on the weather forecast. At some point, you will want to call it quits for the season . . . probably best to do...

    Engine Starting Issue

Greetings . . . Welcome to the abyss of marine engines :ROFLMAO: The engine looks like the 350 MAG with the CATS (Catalytic converters). The good news is that it is a SeaCore version, so it has a full closed cooling system. These engines were used for a while to fill a 300 HP 'gap' until...

Yes . . . Pleated (channel fabric) with mesh undersides. Relatively small job, which is good to get started.

    Quit My Job . . .

Absolutely right . . . if you don't have outside interests, then you probably will be bored in retirement. My last boss was the CFO, and been CFO at another company, he had retired for about a year or two, then back at it at 70 years old. I don't think he needed the income either . . .

    Quit My Job . . .

In other news . . . I got my first boat upholstery job this week. Re-making a set of bow cushions for a Boston Whaler bowrider. A few others are in the works.

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

Happy to describe what I mean. Often folks apply some amount of resin to the area being glassed, apply the fiberglass cloth to the area, and then try to soak the remaining amount of resin needed 'in to' the cloth. Thus the 'soak in' method. This works fine with lower density cloths like...

    Winterization

Is the 7.4 Merc original to the boat? I'm not sure if the older motors had all the convenience of the 'blue plugs' back then. (I had a 1991 7.4 Merc quite some time ago  ) Anyway, as the others have said . . . 1,2) bottom of each exhaust manifold (either detach the hose or remove...

    Mercruiser 5.0 tks

Those Quicksilver labels and packaging are really expensive . . . usually add 2-3X times the cost of the GM or aftermarket part :ROFLMAO: Keep in mind that some of the sea water coming into the engine goes directly to the exhaust manifold & riser, bypassing the engine, in order to keep the...

Replacing Portside Bravo 3 Trim Cylinder

Support the outdrive at the skeg to take the load off the trim cylinders. Yank the cylinder off at the outer pin, then use the leverage of the trim cylinder to remove it from the lower pin.

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

Following . . . Too bad about the fiberglass guy, but not all that surprising. You may be best to do the job yourself. Half the battle is telling yourself that you CAN do it! Read up on the restoration forums where glassing is discussed extensively. IMO - the secret to good...

Chaparral Signature 270 waste or black water tank

I think a plastic (non-metal) holding tank would be best, since aluminum and water don't get along that well. If you Google "marine waste holding tank" you should find various brands and sizes of tanks. Hopefully finding one that is close to the dimensions of your original tank.

    Quit My Job . . .

When I first started out working, I was pretty much un-manageable. :ROFLMAO: Looking back, I feel sorry for my boss at the time. As I gained experience, I came to understand more about the 'why' of how people act in various management roles. I also came to understand the differences...

    Never owned a boat!

I bought my truck, (which is quite under rated for my towing load), based on . . . . the Off-road Tires and SVT rims, 4WD Lo, and EcoBoost. So far, so good. I did notice that the town who maintains the ramp, put gravel in some large crevasses that have developed between the concrete slabs of...
