    Quit My Job . . .

If I can get a couple of management coaching gigs, it would be $300/hr 🤪

    Never owned a boat!

@MarioAlvaradoJunior@outlo . . . when are you launching the boat? Do you do daily launch & retrieve?

    Never owned a boat!

My sailboat had an extending tongue (6 or 8 feet IIRC) as it really needed to go deep in order to launch.

350 MAG winterizing - which method is correct?

Think less about the procedure and more about what you are actually doing to the engine #1 is more of draining with a splash of antifreeze. most of the AF will drain out fairly quickly and not really get anywhere in the engine. #2 is a drain and fill. #3 (there is always a #3 🤪) could be #2...

    2011 8.2 mag winterization

I believe the 8.2 with CAT exhaust is a ‘half’ closed cooling system (engine block only). The exhaust is raw water cooled. You probably want to get the complete service manual for the engine, if you only have the operator’s manual. The short answer is yes the air actuated system is supposed...

    Buying and Selling Online

Are you planning on buying or selling? 🤔 I think for buying it is advantageous, because you can get lots of potential boats (assuming boats) well beyond what you might get otherwise. As for selling, it can be a problem because of the same issue and you will tend to attract ‘tire kickers’ that...

    Never owned a boat!

Only having 2 WD is probably the biggest issue. Even with minimal fuel and gear aboard your launch and retrieve weight is going to be 8,500-9,000 lbs. You will certainly be over your weight rating, so it is a matter of the driving situation and the launch ramp situation. Let us know how it goes.

    Sewing Marine Vinyl?

Not much canvas experience on my part, but 40 gauge is often used for windows in canvas.

    1988 340DA windlass

I installed a windlass on my 33 foot Formula. Vertical windlass gives you a cleaner installation. It is a lot of work You may have to take down the headliner in the cabin to properly route the wiring to the bow. You will want to make sure to use a backing board when you mount the windlass...

    1969 Mercury 7.5 - no spark

I have the same motor. My only advice is to. . . Make sure the points are set correctly Make sure the magnets did not fall off the flywheel Clean all of the electrical connections Make sure the ignition kill button is working properly BTW- those engines have a steel drive shaft, which...

    1992 Celebrity 190 boats owner's manual

Useful manuals are really not a thing with boat manufacturers, until recently. If you cannot find anything by a Google search then it probably never existed.

CT Police Driving With Blue/Red Lights on Steady

I just drove to CT this AM as we usually go there a few times a year. Today I noticed that all the Police cars were driving with their blue and red lights on steady, not flashing. It seems like a new thing, and much appreciated, as we can see them coming now 🤣

Engine cooling water in tube bigger than gimbal housng tube

That little white tube is not right. Do some parts look-up on both the outdrive gimbal assembly and the engine itself. You are missing a few parts, not just one.

    Winterizing: Fuel in tank options?

I have in the past used the fuel line leading to the engine as a means to pump out the fuel in the tank. Perhaps you can rig something up with a double-ended barb fitting and some clamp that give you a margin of safety than a quick-disconnect. FWIW - I usually empty the tank at the end of the...

    Fogging oil won't kill engine

Often the spray does not give enough fogging oil to stop the engine. You can try 2 cans of spray going at the same time. Also, make sure you are at the lowest idle. My 454 Merc would keep running even with 2 cans of spray going . . . I always just shut the engine off and call it good.

WINTERIZING: Full fuel tank vs Empty fuel tank

On the flip side . . . when I removed the fuel tank from my Formula, the way I purged the fumes from the tank was to turn it upside down and the fumes came out of the fill hose fitting. 🤪

WINTERIZING: Full fuel tank vs Empty fuel tank

What folks don't consider about fuel tanks is that they are full of fumes. The fumes are heavier than air. So, moisture-laden air from the outside does not have much chance to get into the tank.

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

You know, I had not seen many Ranger trucks over the past 5 years until recently now that the new F-150's were pushing $80K o_O

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

It was not until I recently owned a P/U Truck that I realized why Detroit seems to love making them (and in turn makes many people feel like they need to own one). Those things seem to be butt-simple to build . . . a very classic auto-industry build, typical of the 1950's-1960's. Body on...
