    (Re)Naming a new to me used boat…

If the boat did not previously have a name, then have at it. If you are renaming, do the ceremonial stuff for peace of mind. I'll be re-naming my sailboat when it is ready for launching. A true calling of a boat is if the current name 'fits' . My new-2-me boat was/is "One2Many". We kept the...

Fair price for a 20HP Mercury

Not sure there is anything such as a 'fair' price. It is more a matter of what you can negotiate.

Boat hit 200 degrees engine temp

Impeller or a clog in the system. Check for clogs first. 200˚F is not terrible.

    Volvo V6-280-M Beeping

Since it is a 2019 model, do have the Volvo EVC display? Any warnings that come up or can be viewed in the warning history? the beeps are annoying and don't really tell much.

    Volvo penta stalling help

Without having the computer connected to the engine and recording data when the engines stall, it will be difficult to identify the problem. Not sure why you need to 'chop' the throttles, particularly around the docks. You probably should be engaging the gears at idle, not needing much more...

    Ideal tongue weight?

The highway will be really exciting . . . best to get the tongue weight to about 10% of your total weight. Probably around 350-400 lbs.

    Boat weight

It is a judgement call on your part (OP) if you are a bit over your weight rating to get the boat you want. Drive at or under the speed limit, but not over 55 mph regardless. I towed 14,000 lbs with my F-150 on the back roads - only about 2 miles. Probably would need an F-250 w/ dual rear...

How do I remove this stuck impeller key?

Impeller usually has to come up first, and if stuck by the key, then pry/cut (carefully) as mentioned.

    Owners manuals, schematics, etc.

Boats don't come with much documentation or manuals. Typically a brochure about safety and not bumping into other boats. I'm not sure there is a Donzi owners forum (somewhere), but check the Interweb. The engine manuals, which are widely published, can be a good source for much of the wiring...

Won't go in park or reverse. Stuck in forward position

The park lever is right next to the brake pedal. :ROFLMAO: I assume the OP means 'neutral'

    Boat weight

As mentioned, published weights are the boat itself. You can do the math of adding the other stuff together, but @Scott Danforth 's figures are spot on. Often a boat purchase causes a tow vehicle purchase. 🤪 BTDT. You also want to be cognizant of your total vehicle weight capacity, which...

    Need advice from experienced people.

Folks aren't going to recommend to take short cuts. Since you will be tearing the engine down, you may as well do things right.

How smooth should hull be when tabbing in stringers

There may be some unevenness, but as long as it has a fresh grind over it, you should be fine, as @zool indicated. I think some folks grind the hull more than needed.

    Quit My Job . . .

Yup, I entered the job market @ 22 years old, after college . . . so 44+ years doing the 9-5 thing (and then some). I've held 9 different jobs over that time . . . the longest stint had been 5 years, until my most recent job of 13 years. A career change along the way. I started out in...

Does this sound right? Mercruiser 4.3 Low Compression

Mechanic is revenue focused, and probably not in your best interest. As the others have said, a cylinder leak test is warranted to further isolate the source of low compression. Most often it is a valve, but there are other possibilities. The cost should not be anywhere near the figure you...

    Find us the right boat

Both are good motors and for the boats that you will likely be considering, the engine itself are both sourced from GM. All the 'dressing' around them are specific to each manufacturer (Merc, V-P) For the boat that I just bought, I could have gotten a Volvo-Penta or a Merc . . . but my comfort...

    Quit My Job . . .

I probably won't take social security for a few more years, as the monthly amount that I can get will max out then. The Admiral is still working and will do so for those few more years. I have a honey do list a mile long and the new boat is keeping me plenty busy.
