    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

In the parts diagram it looks like it seals with a O-ring meaning it's almost certainly not NPT. Maybe get a new O-ring and re-do the connection.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

What do you think is wrong with the leaking hose connection? Hose damaged? Clamp damaged. Past the threads? The question is will I be able to unscrew the fitting from the exhaust elbow or might it snap.

    New 5.7 overheating

You put in a new engine with an old exhaust manifold? Closed cooling or RWC? I assume RWC. Replace both manifolds. If you put any gasket sealer on manifold to riser gasket, less is better.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

So looking at parts diagram for a VP V8 300 C-A. Ref # 54161974 is not for my engine. Ref # 54161345 looks correct for my engine. Shows a thermostat on the heat exchanger (#2) that is part of the closed cooling system (coolant). Ref # 54161973 is not for my engine. Ref # 54161344 looks correct...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I had a Cruisers Inc 1987 24' boat with a Mercruiser 268?? (5.7L) engine and an Alpha One outdrive. With carb. Gave it to Boat Angel. I think they sold it for $87. (Yes less than $100). Everything was simple. But still needed work.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Went to the boat this morning. The overflow had about 1/2" of coolant in the overflow. Started to add a gallon of coolant and it took the whole gallon and when finished adding the gallon the overflow was maybe 1". Still not where it needs to be. The The coolant was obviously flowing into the...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

The boat is at a marina on a rack, so it's not like I can do testing every afternoon. The manifolds each look to have two identical looking sensors, one in the exhaust manifold towards the front of engine and one in exhaust elbow (riser) towards the rear. I was thinking of pulling the...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Are you thinking that somehow my engine has parts that don't match the parts list for a V8 300 C-A engine.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

The parts list for my engine show a thermostat housing #40005486 and #40005487. One for each exhaust manifold. Looking through the parts list I do not see a TCD or PCD.

I appreciate your posts trying to help me get my Volvo Penta working properly. I added another post with several screenshots from my Diacom. Let me know if more info from the Diacom would be helpful.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I am not sure what to make of your comment that the DTC 441 and 442 are for a different engine than mine. I just bought the Diacom new so it was not used before for different engines. The serial number on the sticker on top of the engine matches the serial number that Diacom pulled.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Well things have changed in the type of boats being sold beyond the type of propulsion. More pontoon and center console boats. Less small cabin boats. I like the layout of the boat. It's got A/C and a bow thruster and the normal small cabin cabin stuff. I worked on a Johnson 115 outboard...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Some history. So the boat was purchased in Sept 2020. It was docked in salt water at an ocean inlet in Rhode Island. Boat was winterized and trailered to Delaware in Oct 2020. In early 2021 changing the gear oil it was discovered a gear was missing a few teeth and the outdrive was sent out...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

From what I have read, people who clean heat exchanger and similar run in salt water circulate Barnicle Buster through the heat exchanger for awhile. Unsure if a reverse flush with a garden hose would do that much.
