Electric boat maker shutters plant in WV

yep, absolutely none. The oil industry was built on the backs of entrepreneurs...basically wildcatters. Oil was not the black gold it is today and investing in that new endeavor was risky at least. Once the value became apparent, then, yeah, government wanted their hands in it. But the...

Electric boat maker shutters plant in WV

I'm all in on free market enterprise. Let the chips fall where they may. Kudos to rich people. However, don't force a technology on me that's inferior because of some false premise.

Has anyone replaced the windshield on their boat?

I replaced the windshield on my pontoon, an '06. The windshield still had the manufacturer's label on it. They were still in business. Check yours.

Electric boat maker shutters plant in WV

the technology has never been there. The electric car showed up first in the 1800's, and the same problem existed when the ICE car showed up. The energy content per volume and weight of a battery is no where close to a gas tank. That's why the ICE won out. Curious what these electric boats cost...

    Lift pontoon boat by decking?

pontoons, after they leave the factory , which is what we are talking about, are lifted and moved around at my marina using large straps wrapped around the toons, yes the toons. The OP just wants to remove his boat from the trailer and support it. He's not at a factory.

    Lift pontoon boat by decking?

that's what I'm talking about, and that's what I said. The joists, ribs, crossmembers...whatever name you want to give them are what the deck is attached to and support the deck. Your lifting device is positioned on these crossmembers which support the deck and are under the deck..... to the OP...

    Lift pontoon boat by decking?

You can call whoever you want, but pontoon boats with twin tubes and crossbar/joist construction can only be supported two ways. One is under the toons themselves....such as a trailer with bunks. Or using the joists as with a scissors trailer. After removing trailers: The only places to put...

    Lift pontoon boat by decking?

From experience this past spring...and the marina that had to buy me two new toons: any lifting/supporting on the toons themselves should only be placed at the seams between the toon sections , and at the stern end cap. The boat itself can be supported and lifted on the joists but you want to...

    Sylvan 2012 8522LZ - Add a Porta Potti?

Unfortunately, I can't see what you have (and vice versa) because pics can't be uploaded. I added a porta potty to my '06, 24' lowe pontoon in my changing room. My 4 uprights collapse into themselves but are parallel to the base top rail. So nothing extends down to hit or prevent putting a porta...

Best Bumper Type and Size for Pontoon

I have a 24', 25" diameter pontoon. I I use the cylindrical bumpers, mainly two per side, 3 if I need it, but seldom do. My clamp slips over the railing, the rope disengages with a tug , so moving the bumper up or down is easy. Plus the clamp is just sitting on the rail so it also can be moved...

clarefication: I'm a gearhead but incapable of engine swaps, rebuilding, etc. No space, therefore no equipment for that. I did remove and install a tranny in a '72 monte, and a '92 aerostar (twice) in a carport on my back. By myself. Bolt on's also ok....but beyond that, nope. and waiting for...

ok...so, it could still be the mpi?.... if it is carbed, would you walk ? 300 vs 260 is one thing , but 300 vs 220 is significant. a water test is mandatory..

I'd have to check. um, using my gear head knowledge, the air filter sits on top, like a carbureted car....no hose to an airbox. It wasn't an in depth pre purchase, just stopped to look as it was on my way to my marina. A couple of "flags". boat has been on the market for a while. I know because...

It a 240 sundancer, so I know some think that's kinda low, but It just mainly would be 2. Maybe rarely more. there is a grayish/tanish semi crusty discharge showing around the water inlets on the lower case.. Wouldn't know if that's normal or not. The manifolds have been replaced. The reason...

I understand that. Which is why you hire an inspector. But there are people on here who have been around boats for eons and are capable of offering valid opinions just by looking. still can't ad pics, so doesn't matter .

The outdrive is a bravo 3, on an '06 sea ray. supposedly 300 hrs. Not many pics, I know but couldn't see any other areas to question. engine (5.0) compartment is very clean, well maintained....there are no grease, rust or oil stains. So , see anything ? good/bad.

Changing props. What one to get?

that has not been my experience. Same boat, load, conditions. Regardless, speed was 3 mph lowest to highest.
