+1 on motor height is critical on a pontoon. I've got one. On mine, just 11/2 inches lower made a huge difference on my repower.
plus, is the prop in good shape.
also, my merc has a plastic ring that snaps in place at the gap between the prop and gear case to eliminate ventilation from exhaust...
mainly because they/we don't understand the physics involved.
Most people think doubling HP will "double" my speed. Drag coefficients say no. A pontoon has a heavy front half. Trying to get that up with tilt just forces the back down, then more speed forces the back up, forcing the front...
just came across this....to the OP.
a person needs to understand the ramifications of their choices.....
a brand new boat and the owner is saying "WTF" already...
This is a correct proven statement from my experience.
I re-powered my pontoon from a 60 to a 115 HP Merc. I gained only a 5-6 mph increase. My fuel consumption increased noticebly.
And it cost me a net of $8000....I did get the performance I wanted, so I'm content with my choice.
There is a lot...
because it's true, THAT's why I said it. Where did I deny 4 stroke existence?
Do you even own a pontoon boat? I do. And a 4 stroke weighs significantly more than a 2stroke and as some on here have stated there is a placard on the boat with a max total weight limit to not be exceeded and there...
Are you talking 2 stroke or 4 stroke . If the 40 is original and a 2 stroke then the placard limit of 120 is for a 2 stroke.
Curious what diameter the toons are. Makes a difference and also why there is a placard with a limit. It's not just for transom, balance is part of it....
FWIW, I have a...
not upset
all good....it's like an oil thread....
I was surprised , skeptical, (as others are) and still not 100% sure, was just FYI and FWIW..
Not endorsing.
the marina manager has no skin in the game.....and knew nothing of the other person...
Same answer from two different sources, who are in the boating game.
You don't know ,or have met, the upholsterer. Therefore, you are no judge of his character or his motivations. He has plenty of business and...
I wasn't kidding about windex. The upholsterer that re-did my pontoon shocked me with that answer. I was expecting otherwise. I wanted to also hear what product to use on my now new $5800 upholstery job, but it wasn't what I expected.
I'm at a new marina this year on the chesapeake. I ran the...
Pontoon logs are not designed to take pressure over 3-5 psi. So be for warned about blowing air in them.
A simple way to check if a toon is leaking is by slowly opening the cap usually on top of each toon section. You should hear air either escaping or entering the toon. If you do, great, no...
I'd call 'em anyway. That's how I work things, to the end.
Can't tell you how many times I've been told "no" or "can't do that" or "we're out" ...only to find out different or get led to another avenue.....
FWIW to the OP , of course.....
this is what's out there. It appears Nautic Global made the ladder, but Bennington now owns Nautic Global.
ebay had one but it sold 5/29.....Greatlakesskipper appeared to be the ebay seller. There doesn't appear to be anymore.....GLS is greatlakesskipper....maybe call them.
it's a joke, humour....sort of. For example, you said set4, stamped usa on the bearings, scroll down , made in china
My bearings are also just stamped usa, but the box says made in usa....
so it's just the box that counts?😳
