    Shouldn't have your radio wired to the engine battery. Most use a house battery for everything not engine related. Start battery is for engine related power.

    Keep in mind, your insurance won't cover you in case of an accident. If someone is injured or killed you have negligence because your boat did not follow industry safety standards. Looks like a fun project, just don't get around anyone else when your operating it !

    Nice used ones typically pop up at at the end of the season. My Lawrence unit was a 2013 model and my MinnKota powerdrive was the same year. Like new units, bought them in 2020 for about 1/3 the cost of new today. More bells and whistles than I will ever use !

    Just the wood 5/8" ? Most transoms are 1 1/2" or thicker overall. Will you have wood on inside and outside ? Clamp on or bolt on outboard motor?

    Great example of why a kicker motor is better for trolling. Long slow periods of running the big motor typically causes issues down the road.
