    1980 120hp

1977 and newer the cutout changed just a little ( need trimming ) and I’m not sure when the exhaust changed but by the mid 80s the riser and manifold is different

Electronic Ignition part number and Non-Resistance spark plugs

They are not well regarded in the marine side of things. Known for burning out and burning coils out

Electronic Ignition part number and Non-Resistance spark plugs

the Delco distributors used never changed. Unless you don’t have a Delco. The ring goes down tight. You really have to press on it. Or it’s out of the box defective

Electronic Ignition part number and Non-Resistance spark plugs

1146 is the number for a Delco distributor in a 120. 1142 fits some tractors albeit also Delco. It’s the base plate that is a little different but module is the same. If you want just the trigger because it’s not working ( common ) then call Pertronix for service.. there is a reason pertronix...

    1998 Lund Prosport 1600 Parts?

Cover will be local or universal. Seats can be universal, with a 50% chance or so that Great Lakes Skipper has original NOS seats that will match your boat. They obtain the old stock from everyone. But when it’s gone, it’s gone

    Conversion advice

If the owner glassed over the transom keyhole, you could convert to Mercruiser.. makes me wonder what he was doing if the motor is still in there Basically not available… an un installed stringer drive is worth parts to someone who needs them, or scrap to those that don’t. You have parts and...

    Changing manifold on a 2004 3.0.

Did you order the correct gasket? Cylinder heads changed around 1990 and went to large ports. Your 2004 should have large ports and your manifold sounds correct but perhaps the gasket is for an older motor. The bolt pattern is the same

    Ultrasonic cleaners?

You can boil carbs in a light lemon juice mixture. Not too much lemon juice on carbs that are zinc coated but it’s an old trick that works well. I cook them on the stove in an old aluminum pot. It actually doesn’t stink up the house

Merc 260 fit in Winns 190 Horizon bay?

They actually work well. A lot of them are basically unbranded MSD distributors. Just not for boats

    Toyota/Lexus Timing Belt Change Thoughts

Back in the day, Toyota was smart. If it had a chain it was interference, if it had a belt it was not.. that said interval is usually 100k miles or 4 years… but with that one just depends on if you want a tow bill or not for when it breaks

Merc 260 fit in Winns 190 Horizon bay?

No that’s a run of the mill Chinese HEI. Very much dangerous in a boat. Explosions could occour

Nissan 6hp won’t lock in reverse ( prop sucks up )

Makes sense. I have not had a chance to look at it for him yet. I told him it had to work like you suggested and to try lubricating stuff. He told me it was on a camp before he bought it and the people used it a couple times a summer until they sold the camp, so the motor itself is...

    Suzuki DF6

Unless this is a sail boat motor. A long shaft is standard length 20” and if you have it on a trolling bracket that’s what you need

    Outboard fuel range

2 stroke or 4 stroke? I went 10 miles last year with my 25hp Suzuki and used probably 2 gallons at most. I would get a 6 gallon tank. 4 stroke uses about half the fuel of a 2 stroke in general

Nissan 6hp won’t lock in reverse ( prop sucks up )

My friend has a 2017 Nissan. I think model would be MFS6 and he says it won’t lock in reverse. The prop will pull up to the surface. I looked online quick and I think it’s a spring that is weak and seems like it may be a common issue. I know it’s a black Tohatsu, and also I let him know that’s...

    Mercruiser 3.7l voltage regulator smoking

The voltage regulator is water cooled. The 3.7 charging system is one of the dumbest things of the 3.7. Being basically an outboard stator.. with the regulator out, it’ll spike 15-16v and it could cause the gauges to read high. BUT 3.7s are also known to overheat, blow head gaskets ect…

    Rustoleum or not

Hardener is a good idea. 4:1 will work if brushing. Just wear a good filter mask and goggles. Isocynates are rugged and deadly

    Rustoleum or not

Rust oleum is alkyd enamel. Same product as marine topside paint. It’ll work just fine
