Anodes for Yamaha outboard...Zinc or Aluminum?

It's good you put the correct ones on . Maybe if you researched it awhile ago and got the correct material you wouldn't have any pitting .

Anodes for Yamaha outboard...Zinc or Aluminum?

Are you slipped at a Marina , on a hook , private dock ? Ask any fellow slippers what they use or have the same results as you ? Stray electrical current will not affect your motor while underway , so that anode is normal to show no wear . I might try to figure out a way to have both types...

    1999 Wellcraft Excalibur

It's possible it was ordered with a big block. Not that unusual for a 21 + - to have them . In theory the 454 will last longer than a small block. You are working the motor less to achieve the same speed you would with a small block. So if you properly maintain it you should get 5-6k hours out...

    1989 Astro Quick Fire

A test light is in most boaters tool boxes . Are you getting power to the switch ? Do you have power coming out of the switch or ower at the trim pump . Your switch may be fine , you could have a bad solenoid on the pump a bad connection , worn wire or bad switch . All traceable with a test light .

    Hardtop project

Shouldn't be , if it is fairly level with the shearline of the hull , as in it's pretty much pointing straight into the wind when going fast . They have them on CCs that run 70 mph all day long among other hull designs Definitely aluminum for roof material , for a thousand reasons. .

    Listing to port side

Might want to read all the responses before chiming in . Post # 12 gives you the beam along with the HP rating ( although that's not clear if it's for that particular hull or a larger one ) . Bottom and modifications have been discussed as well .

    Listing to port side

I would try sanding off the lip of the hook so it looks like a continuation of the hulls bottom . Then after putting a tab on the port side , the wider the better , take it out and see how she rides . If still listing a bit , remove the rest of that section. Leaving it on will ,in a small way...

    Listing to port side

The hull appears to be very narrow , which in itself will list quicker and more severely than a wider hull . The port side of the hull has next to nothing for a planning surface compared to the starboard side . It will allow that side to dig in especially with the larger planning surface on the...

    Gph at various rpm...thoughts?

Pretty sure you have that backwards . Your 115 is more like a 100hp figuring a 10% loss of hp between the crank and the prop . Try Googling it .

    Stringer question

Could be . If it was my hull and someone inspected it while second guessing his equipment , I would want a 100% , the stringers are shot from him . Me , I would then look for any clamps ,brackets etc . screwed into the stringers in the bad reading section . If nothing was in the " questionable...

Conversion from I/O to outboard on Islander.

When the OP wrote Islander my first thought was a Starcraft Islander , not the glass , Grady White ? . So knee braces ,as noted above , are not used .

Conversion from I/O to outboard on Islander.

My thoughts are , replace the wood in the transom, put knee braces in , 45* angle from new wood to stringers . I would find a similar hull with outboard hanging on it and look at the inside transom setup , including width of transom in case they use less width on the I/O setup .

Need Help & Advice on a Purchase....

Uhhhh , inboards come with mufflers , inline or cans , my 305s are inline and the 454s are the larger cans . They can " discharge " out the stern , sides or at a 45* angle where the transom and side meet . Bigger engines have bigger exhaust ,they have to breathe , in and out and that usually...

Need Help & Advice on a Purchase....

Pretty wild statement. When was a 19' boat brought into this thread ? Might as well said 15 ' . " Big engines are quieter & save gasoline at normal cruise speeds . No they are not quieter , my 454s have a 5 " exhaust outlet , my 305s have a 3" outlet , 454s are louder . Science speaking here...

    Head tank removal

By law ,the macerator pump should not be hooked up while on inland waters . There should be a through hull valve that has a hose on it that goes to the pump. That hose should be removed or at the very least the valve is shut off with a removable handle. That handle probably should not be stored...

    Head tank removal

Does the holding tank have a macerator pump that would include a check valve for discharging when you're X amount of miles from shore ( Ocean only ) . That's where I would start when looking for a possible water leak . You have two hoses going to the tank , one from the head and one that goes to...

    Stringer question

You've been doing this for the last decade and have not pulled any bolts or screws that are in the stringers or drilled any holes in the wet areas to see if you have dry shavings ? Moisture meters are not always accurate, depending on when the hull was pulled , even bottom paint will affect the...
