    Force 120hp won't start

Rebuild the one you have. An auto electric workshop that rebuild starters for cars will fix it. New brushes, clean up the commutator and maybe new bushings then it will be okey. If you buy a new one be ware of the cheap Chines starters. They are crap. Buy a Prestolite or a Bosch starter, maybe a...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

If the diaphragm is brittle and slightly cracked fuel will leak through and it will not pump sufficiently.

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

You do not need to buy a new separation cover plate. It will be deformed too as the heat from the exhaust will make it to warp. use the one you have. Check if there is some leakage at the covers or damage. You need new gaskets and yes pull the head too and check the head gasket. BTW Another...

Clean plugs maybe is a sign of water intrusion. Check the head gasket, looks like it is okey from the compression numbers but there are also a chance it will have water intrusion from the exhaust side. Leakage at the gaskets at the exhaust cover can also cause water intrusion to the cylinders.

    Force 120hp won't start

Yes the mixture will be different but not from the 2 stroke oil sinking. The gasolin will evaporate and the mixtur will be different from that. I would suggest you to clean out that fixed tank. I think there is a lot of dirt and condensation water from all years in the bottom of it. BTW Make...

    1998 Force 120 Impeller Kit

As racerone and jerryjerry says. Only change the impeller. If you are careful when disassemble the housing you can reuse the gaskets and maybe put some liquide gasket such as Permatex Form a gasket No. 3 to the gaskets.

    Force 120hp won't start

In my opinion an electric fuel pump is a NO NO NO. The OEM pressure driven pump is very very reliable. The check valves never fail, change diaphragm and maybe the gaskets and it should work.

    Force 120hp won't start

I have not worked with the L-drive but the 3 and 4-cylinder Chrysler/Force need a 60 Ah or lager battery 550 CC or more (cranking capacity). Are you sure the LU (L-drive) is okey? The only thing except the gears and bearings that maybe slow the cranking speed is the impeller. A new impeller in...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

I think the recommended RPM at WOT for best performance is 4800-5200 RPM. Try to go down 2 in in pitch, 1 in down will rise the RPM about 200. A 17 in prop would end up with about 4800 RPM at WOT. If it sometimes will die when put in gear at 800 RPM in gear, try to rich the air/fuel mixture at...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

There are no timing for idling. You set the timing at WOT the timing at idle will be what it will be.

Hard to start then I advice you to check the reed valves. I do not know when they started to change the reed valves from stainless steel to plastic valves but the plastic ones had tendency to break. I my opinion the stainless steel reed valve are much better. Is it hard to start after sitting...

    Re- torque head bolts?

From my experience the first reason you have to retorque the head bolts is if you have changed the gasket, the new gasket will be compressed. The factory workshop manual calls for retorque after one hour or so and yes absolutely the head bolts should be retorque. When the power head warms up the...

Gas - Oil Mixture on old Evinrudes outboards

As Chris1956 says, engines with bronze bearings in the connecting rods to the crank shaft need 24:1 mixture, engines with roller bearings go for 50:1. I think but might be wrong, when OMC used dual line fuel hose for the fuel tank (pressurised tank) the mixture has to be 24:1. I think they...

Have not looked at the wideo cause I can not and will not login to drop box. Pulling the plugs and put the drives in forward gear and then compare how hard it is to turn the flywheels may give you some clue. But you are turning the impeller too and depending how flexible the impellers are it...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

Hard to say when not have the engine to look at. But I think you problem are in the LU. The pinion gear have to have right play/back lash. Too tight the pinion gear will press at the forward and reverse gear. But as it idles in neutral at 800 RPM and the press are at the F and R gear even in...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

The prop shaft endplay and the backlash for the pinion gear and forward/reverse gear are important. Too tight or too loose will damage the gears eventually. Is the engine idling well in neutral (700-800 rpm) and not stay in idle in gear at 700-800 rpm?

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

I have never change a rectifier/regulator but I think you can used both if both can manage the charging amperage from the stator. If your stator output amperage is 16A use one that manage at least 16A or more, if the output amperage is 7A choose one of them. I am a senior...

I would say every adjustment more than 1 turn out of seated are acceptable. But of course not to much as too rich adjustment will foul the plugs. Leaner adjustment... better idle, BUT too lean the respons when doing a "hole shot" will end up with it hesitate or die. Some Chrysler/Force engines...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Follow the Master Tech information about breaking in period. I run 3-4% (33:1-25:1) oil mixture when breaking in a rebuilt engine. Has worked out well all the time. Use good quality TCW3 two stroke oil. Then I have always mention in this forum and it applies to a newly rebuilt or a not rebuilt...

Low compression Suzuki OB: 105...105.... and 65

As Faztbullet says, maybe a Suzuki. BUT why does the thread call for a Johnson if isn`t a Johnson!!! The only two stroker OB with white color power head are Johnson or Suzuki. BTW This engine needs a major restore, that bottom cylinder and piston is toasted.
