    Clanking/rattling sound after prop change

You might be hearing detonation, I agree, put the old prop back on

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

I've read some info that suggests that the riser fails more often than the manifolds which could mean that I may be able to replace the risers only. How could I tell if the manifold is still serviceable? and what's your take on the aluminum manifolds for a fresh water boat. I think the stainless...

Coolant in 3 cylinders after winter storage? Hasn't been started

I came on a little strong, apologies, lots of very good wrenches on the forum and they will hang with you..

Coolant in 3 cylinders after winter storage? Hasn't been started

No expert here, but the center port looks to have a puddle in it an the valve don't look too good either. The riser looks like solid rust. I'm having a bit of a problem with exhaust myself at the moment. If it's a raw water cooling your winterizing procedure is totally wrong. Check out the forum...

Replacing the steel cable on a boat lift

I did, like Alumarine said, the pulleys would be your main concern. As long as the gear plate and motor are capable.

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

I jury rigged the garden hose to the riser and screwed it down to a chunk of 2x6 to block off the water passage that goes to the manifold. Turned on the water and it didn't have any water coming out of the exhaust end. It's gotta be really blocked up.

Weight distribution on trailer bunks and rollers?

How many rollers do you have to support the hull?

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

It looks like I have a bit of thinking to do. I just spent a couple of hours googling and there are a lot of choices other than cast iron although at my age the iron will probably outlast me. I saw some aluminum with stainless risers that seemed interesting. seems like that might be a good...

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

A couple of pics of the other end of the riser. It doesn't look good to me. Every thing else is probably about the same, I'm thinking it's time for a new exhaust complete.

Want to make my 350’s louder

I like a nice rumble but I wouldn't call it loud.

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

A bit of background, I got the boat last summer and after replacing the rubber bits and gimbal bearing, shift cable I ran it through the break in procedure for a new SEI drive because the PO had it installed but never broke it in or used it. The way the bearing was screaming I'm happy he didn't...

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

Thanks for digging into this with me.. Yes the down elbow was already getting warm the riser and manifold still cool, it seems like the water isn't getting into the down elbow or maybe the flapper being stuck was holding the water from getting out.. something bent the flapper rod unless it's...

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

Can you still get metal flappers, I can straighten it out if needed. How can I test the riser for flow, I thought maybe just Hook it to a hose and see where the water comes out..

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

No, I didn't run it long enough to get hot cause at that point I wanted to get it apart without burning my lilly white fingers. What should I look for on the riser? I picked a bit of rust out of it.

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

Finally had decent weather and was able to work on the boat today. I pulled the hoses from the riser and manifold and water flow seems good. So I put them back on and cranked it up to see if the elbow would heat up. I saw water coming out of the lower exhaust boot at the y pipe so pulled the...

Weight distribution on trailer bunks and rollers?

I may be mistaken but I believe that the bunks support the boat and the roller is just a guide to keep the boat centered..

Movement right to left in alpha outdrive

There are several linkages that compounded can create a good bit of slop in an older boat. Be sure the clinch bolts on the gimbal ring are to spec. That's where you can run into some big problems if not tight..
