    repair the tear any canvas shop can tell you if it is possible. mine was fixed in under an hour then decide if you want to trade in the wife for one of those younger models that just stands there and smiles, or if you want to keep the one you have that actually tries to help.

    While some water leakage in the mid section is normal, this does not look right. That is a pretty big gap. It appears the gearcase is not fully seated against the mid section.

    Those holes are exhaust pressure relief ports. AIDS in startups and idle. The steering rod kits usually come with a metal strap clamp that wraps around the motor.

    Unless the boat has been thrown off a cliff, it should run pretty much like it did in 1956. I spent many a days on the water in grand dads. These boats were a little tippy for my liking, but they lasted forever. It should scoot right along with the 9.5, if it is running well.

    Suspect the heavy load was enough to spin the prop hub. Try another prop like Racerone suggested.

    Yes, many of us have seen the fuel line delamination and subsequent clogged fuel system, Clogged carbs can cause lean running condition. And non E resistant fuel pump diaphragms kind of dissolve. Have also seen the fuel go gooy.

    Does the motor run? Have you checked the fluid level? Should be easy to check the relay. Simply swap the 2 relays. If the relay is bad, the motor should raise, but not lower.

    That motor had 3 different tilt systems. If the trim motor is next to the transom bracket, do as QBoy said. There is a large hex he'd plug on the side of the trim motor. This is pressurized, motor must be up. If you have a 3 ram trim system, where the trim motor is located between the transom...
