Great day on the boat, then ran aground.....What to have checked?

" WHAT else should I look for or check ? " I would start looking in the glovebox , drawers , for a chart. Then I would study it before shoving off. There is also a app for current up to date charts that cost maybe 10.00 a year , I would look for that as well.

    Transmission for a small diesel.

Maybe try hitting up some Marina's to see if they have any abandon sailboats that have a inboard engine. Whatever they have for a tranny will be small compared to a power boat.

    1989 San Marino 250

Could be the water filter for the fresh water is clogged. Your switching things up as well. Black water is your heads holding tank , not fresh water that comes out the faucets. So PO telling you that " worked " means nothing, unless it was the macerator pump and that's only good to use if your...

    1989 San Marino 250

Sounds like it is a 25' boat. There should be a fresh water toggle switch on the control panel. You must fill the holding tank before it will work , It does not draw water from the lake. There should also be a hot water tank switch that turns the tank on when you have shore power. Some boats are...

    Looking At A 1992 LUHRS TOURNAMENT 342

Have you tried Googling marine fuel tanks for sale / repair or something along those lines ? 4700 is stupid money IMHO.

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

No I cant hear any engines over my own . Unless its a high performance thru hull exhaust burning some gas .Not to many blind corners on the open waterways, in a controlled environment there are buoys and other navigation markings ,just like on the roads that if you abide to keeps everyone safe...

    Looking At A 1992 LUHRS TOURNAMENT 342

A good shop vac aimed at the exit of your saws fiberglass dust tailings is the way to go. Correct brand new blade on saw and masking tape with your cut line down the middle of tape keeps edge chipping down. Good luck I am sure it will turn out ok in the end.

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

I have been on the water for 60 years and have never heard anyone use a horn , whistle , bell or any other noisemaker for overtaking a boat or for anything else on the water. Whoops I have heard horns after a particular good firework mortar screams through the air , that's what horns are good...

    Looking At A 1992 LUHRS TOURNAMENT 342

Cut deck out if that's the only option . We just repaired a deck and ended up covering the back deck { actually whole boat } with Marine Mat and went with it button snaps . Boat looks 100% better after that and the M Mat has a foam backing which makes it easier on the legs when working the deck...

Looking at 1990 Bayliner, need advice

Going to be almost the same , parts and correct tools along with having a clue to rebuilding will have you dropping it off a rebuilders , back to 3,000 , for starters and your not even into the outdrive and what issues that might have.

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

Like sailors ever overtake any vessel while under sail power. So electric cars have warning horns because people can only see them and not hear them , hahaha. Moving on from your argumentative post as your not going to be satisfied with any logical answer.

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

As noted you are over reaching or just looking to argue with people. Sail boats have the same rules and regulations as power boats. Including all noise emitting devices. Sail boaters need horns and noise makers so they can sail through a bunch of boat trolling for fish holding course even though...

    Prop hub slipping?

^ or make a mark from the outside of the hub to the inner making sure you make contact with everything, a yellow or white marking pen from a auto parts store works great as they have a fine point. After your done for the day or after you put it through its paces check the line.

    MONARK SUNCASTER 240, HIN number?

Your HIN is in the middle photo. Last 2 digits are the year , in your case it's 95 or 1995. The paperwork is wrong , maybe that number she gave you is for the trailer , it's not for the boat.

    1996 Trophy Bayliner - Inspection?

No link . There is a 1995 with a 2002 150 on it in Rochester NY for 7,000. That boat looks like there shouldn't be a soft deck or even below deck wood issues, unless screw ,bolt holes are compromised. Your dollar your call.

    1996 Trophy Bayliner - Inspection?

OP stated it was a outboard. Not sure if it's the same year as boat. That could make a difference if mounting holes are different and they were not caulked correctly. Could be 100 % perfect or not.

    1996 Trophy Bayliner - Inspection?

" Bad bedding " or the caulk around the through hull fittings. All decking solid , under gunwales ( flat surface that your rod holders are inserted into ) solid , you can stand on the lower unit of motor and bounce a bit to see if there is any flex in your transom . Passed the water test , throw...

Courtesy lights to LED. Dropped the wires for one light.

Does the storage compartment in front of the sink come out ? That's may be your only shot at retrieving the wires unless you drill a access plate hole and put one in, which isn't a bad idea with or without the wiring issue.

    Proof of value

As noted. boat is worth around 500 + motor value and if it's the same vintage figure 250. Survey is a waste of money for that boat. Allstate did just liability with one of my boats last year and that was close to 600 for 300,000.

    1996 Trophy Bayliner - Inspection?

Moisture meters are only as good as the "operator " . Unless your boat is out of the water for a couple months you will get false readings and if the bottom is painted add a few more months to it sitting on land .A plastic tip hammer would be better . A surveyor should have no affiliation...
