Boat bogs down after 30-90 minutes

Just ask a mod to move it to the appropriate section. In regards to your issue, if I didn't know better I'd say you have some sort of fuel issue. In Hotrodding, I'd call it heat soak (of the starter) when you can't restart it until it cools down. IF this is an HEI distributor, you might look...

    Busiest day of the year

Went out once to watch the fireworks over Boldt Castle in 1000 Islands. Was a nice show however it was in a light rain and absolutely no moon. Trip back was harrowing as we stayed in the shipping channel. Me in my 18' Bayliner following my uncle in his 18' Sylvan getting buzzed by 30-40ft power...

    Wiring a water temp gauge.

From the vid and your pic, that looks like a standard "bolt" used to close the threaded hole up so it doesn't leak. Any sender I've ever seen has a wire running to it as that's how they generally function. That bronze/brass "bolt" looks very similar to the water jacket plugs I had to pull when...

    1972 Starcraft Chieftain 21ft IB/OB project

Me...I'd be replacing the floor (and potentially foam), yanking the motor, and replacing the transom at a bare, bare minimum. That'd give me a known good starting spot to build off of. Then, I'd be looking at a 4.3 Merc out of a donor glass boat. Get the whole boat so you have the harnesses...

    Evinrude 25 Electric Conversion

It's more reliable than you are giving it credit. Terminal blocks like that are still used today. Much easier to service a single wire in that terminal block then say a 20 pin connector which requires specialized tools to eject the pin from the plug housing for repair/replace.

    Rinker Captiva

IF it smells like gas, it might be a vent line then. You're going to have to trace it internally to see what it runs to. Usually a vent is located near the gas fill...some are incorporated right into the gas fill. My Chap is separate, about a foot or two lower than the gas fill. Overboard...

Old Evinrude question, Can anyone help?

Looks eerily familiar to our '56 Big Twin 30HP. Only difference is that ours didn't have that bar across the back of the motor. IF someone didn't sand it off, I bet you get that gray paint off you'll find the Evinrude blue metallic underneath.

    Wading prius

They're in the trunk/under rear seat so unlike a Tesla with a direct dunk. Still not something I'd be doing as the electric motor(s) are likely submerged.

    BRP Horizontal Engine?

I've checked local dealers, they all say call for price on their webpage and use stock marketing photos for listings. In otherwords...still vaporware in my neck of the woods. It looks like the Alumacraft BRP Rotax offering is doa as I couldn't build a boat recently with that power plant. Only...

    Rinker Captiva

JB...screw off cover that appears to be in the bow/mid section of the boat. OP...does the drain happen to be anywhere near the glovebox? Some boats had overboard drains for the glovebox to double as a cooler. My Bayliner had that going off memory. Think the Fourwinns did too.

    2017 Stingray 198 LX

I wouldn't waste my time looking for one as it's more likely to contain the boating do's and don'ts. Pointy end goes towards where you want to go. Don't hit anything. CO poisoning. etc. Inserts may have been included to go over trailer, radio, and cleaning vinyl. Quickest way to find out what...

    First Aid Kit

We have an incredibly basic kit (Wally World purchase) in a hard case. Admiral is thinking of getting a tackle box and building her own kit with stuff we need/use. I'd add a very good set of tweezers to it - I bought mine through MicroMark.

What did you do to your boat today?

Nada. Zero. Zippo. Still in shrink-wrap and not even registered. **Youngest son has a broken arm so no life jacket / boating for him for a bit. Seeing that we can't exclude him, it sits...for now. Find out in a few weeks how much longer his arm is in a sling.

    Sea Dek or the equivalent

SeaDek uses 3M adhesive tape on the back of its product to adhere to the deck. It's peel & stick. Same for the Amazon stuff. I will say after following their installation instructions, the SeaDek swim pad is still stuck - installed in 2018 - and hasn't had any issues with corners peeling. This...

    Any upstate NYers around?

And there ya go. Hop off I-81 at A-bay, take Rt 12 S towards Clayton. Thousand Islands Bait Store is the place to shop if you're doing any kind of fishing or want a Nav map for the River. About 1 mile on your right is Gals ice cream. A bit further down on the left is Clayton Distillery and they...

    Any upstate NYers around?

Chautauqua Lake has a ferry that crosses it. No idea on cost, just had to dodge it a few times I've been out there. Chautauqua Institute is there. https://www.tourchautauqua.com/destinations/chautauqua-lake I'm further North in Lockport (Locks 55 & 56 on the Erie Canal are right in the city)...

    Any upstate NYers around?

I'd look around Chataqua Lake if you're toting a boat with you. Probably 1.5 Hours to the border straight up I-90 and catch the Peace Bridge off I-190. Other option might be to look in Olcott which is right on Lake Ontario. There is a town launch, last I was there it was $7 fee to launch.

    Inboard/ I/O Engine Hoist Ideas?

I've used a solid adult tree to move things much heavier than a dressed engine. Can be done in a pinch.

New prop & hub yet I still have minimal speed

This the boat? https://forums.iboats.com/threads/1967-sea-star-mustang.765870/ Cause if it is, and unless the camera is playing funny tricks, it appears your cav plate is MUCH lower then the keel of the boat. It's submerged 6-12" below. If that's the case, you're MUCH too deep and a prop isn't...

    1990 Wellcraft 223 Eclipse

Dunno about that. My cousin's 200/210 Searay deck boat had the center walkthrough glass shatter during a frantic recovery effort - got caught in a freak storm that blew up out of no where. Wind caught the walkthrough and slammed it shut, shattered the glass instantly. Repair cost, for just...
