Yup that's the stuff steel 2000 I'd have to look it's been a bit but I think I used the super slick. I'd have to look to see what it was I got. I checked it is the super slick that I used.

I used total boat wet edge topside for the red. I sanded it down to the factory paint then painted over that. It's what the instructions said. For the paint on the outside prep will be the same but it's total boat aluminum boat paint. It's fine to use on the bottom though I am only using it on...

Yeah quite literally. I'm really getting the itch to get mine done. Cold be damned I wanna go fishing. I already realized I made one mistake and forgot to run some conduit so I gotta take a section of floor back up

I come fro6the jeep world. They are money pits too. I'm almost that far in on a resto-mod of a 93 yj wrangler. The boat was supposed to be my cheap hobby. Obviously my decision making skills are questionable

5200 series is marine rated not just saltwater though fresh too. It's corrosion resistant. It's what your boat is made out of. I feel you on throwing money away I'm a hand 5 grand in to this build with a few more to go. All the oak I am using is blowing my budget the. I added permanent gas tank...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

I looked into doing aluminum. For 5200 series marine rated aluminum it would have cost me several grand. The wood floor was very easy it took about 2 hours to make and fit completely from scratch. If my old one could have been used as a template it would have taken alot less.

Correct I have a faux teak padded vinyl flooring to put over the floor. The current floor is 3\4 yellow pine and is hideous. But I have always had the plan for vinyl. The plan wood is kinda rough and would tear everyone's feet up but mine cause I hate shoes and only wear them when I have too. So...

Don't know if I posted the pic of the splash well drain holes with the flares factory style aluminum tubes so here they are. Got the floor and the sides in. Put styrofoam behind the sides and taped the seams and sides to keep the foam where I want it but give a pressure relief if it's needed...

Taping the pipe I am using to keep the fo out and leave a drain path. Don't know if it's gonna work but this is my attempt at it. More pics to come after I get the floor in and the sides installed

That's my thoughts. The bottom part I am filling with foam board. I think I am gonna fill the top part too. To me it's just not useful. I am using quarter inch oak and in a few places birch I am putting it over everything like a veneer to make the inside of the boat look kinda like a wooden...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

Rough fitment done. On the sides. Everything will get sealed in the morning and there might even be some pics of final install of the floor and sides. I was going to cut an oval opening for small storage but that area is so shallow it's worthless I am gonna use it to run my wiring on the one...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

Everyone loves pics myself included. I do alot of googling set on images to get ideas. However nothing has changed since my pics of the floor. Today a few holes will get added. Some creative ways to seal off that bildge area to keep foam out of it. And I'm gonna get the interiors sides hopefully...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

Well my measurements on my fuel tank didn't take into account the angles of the sides. So I am gonna have to make my consoles a little deeper which is fine. I was putting a birch veneer on them anyway. From the inside it will have alot of wood. I love the look and feel of it. But that's...

Jack plate moves the motor straight up and down. So you can move the motor higher without changing the angle of the prop. When you use trim yes your bringing the motor higher or lower in the water but your changing the prop angle so the high you trim the more the motor is pushing the back of the...

First fitting of the floor. Starting to mark the layout so I can get the conduit cut and holes in place and everything set up so I can seal it and put it in permanently. Then get the foam in. I am hoping to be putting foam in in about 2 weeks. More pics to come later today or tomorrow

    1978 SS 16 restoration

This is a Jack Plate. Mine should arrive later today but I'm not ready to put it in the boat. It mounts to the transom in place of the motor and the motor mounts to it. Loosen those bolts in the side and use the bolt in the top center to move the motor straight up and down. In my case setting it...

Well went ahead and got the 4 inch set back one. Temporarily bolted it up last night and proceeded to hanf off of it bounce on it and do everything else I could and the transom didnt budge or flex a bit. I am sure the brace I have added between the top bolts helps some.

Well thinking about it more. I guess it is beefed up ever so slightly. New D hoops. All new hardware. A few places I replaced the simple wood screws with bolts completely through the transom like down each side. The boat is actually stiff now where it used to be flexy.
