    My old 1986 Evinrude WILL toss the thermostat flat rubber washer around. So much that the thermostat is held open. Cold running engines is the result. I cured that very long problem by Cleaning the washer side of the thermostat and the surface of the washer. Then lightly and NEATLY applied...

    The long idle is SLOWLY warming up the motor. Check if the choke is operating when cold.

    EXCESSIVLY slow in gear trolling will build up gunky deposits. IF you reduce the trolling motor speed to low ? It will run too cold of a engine condition. Put the trolling speed where it belongs. ALL the fish can catch any trolled bait or lure. Been there and do that.

    Any reversion problem is WELL KNOWN. It is cured with a taller RISER SPACER .
