    Prop seals Bravo 3

Yes, most likely failed propshaft seal(s). You'll want to replace both of them No need to split the drive for this job, in fact leaving the drive still mounted to the bell housing works well as there is much torque/force required for removal/installation of both propshafts You will also need...

    Shift cut out switch problem

IIRC the shift interrupt switch for an efi engine is normally closed. Opposite of what a carbureted engine uses

    Engine replacement help…

These posts reference engines OP does not own OP owns a 4.3L V6 OP does not own an engine currently available for install Context aside, information posted throughout this thread has been tracking towards possible repairs. Speculation is fun, even rewarding when the option comes to fruition...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 - gear lube in idle relief ports

Can't tell what type of fluid I'm seeing in your pic. But if you're sure its gear lube then it's gear lube Pull the drive and perform a visual inspection and pressure test the drive WAG if it's not a seal would be a failed bell housIng/drive gasket. It provides the seal for the gear lube...

1997 7.4 mercruiser mpi blue water inboard

From that vintage mercury used zf hurth straight and v drive transmissions with gear reduction. Pump orientation determines output rotation as 454 from that era was LH rotation only

1997 7.4 mercruiser mpi blue water inboard

Probably best to look into a local engine rebuilder. Pretty tough to buy a reman 454 these days, they are rare Curious as to what caused the low compression, with routine care and maintenance 454 ought to last thousands of hours with great performance

    Installing new bellows

Volvo made it easy for the shift cable. Just loosen the clamp tab (3/8" wrench) and bobs yer uncle

    Installing new bellows

Nice write up, Lou Would add that you should ensure the threads for the hinge pins/bolts and pivot housing are clean upon reassembly. Use blue loctite on the threads and torque to 100 lb/ft max (same as alpha style)

    Mercarb 2BBL vacuum hose?

Definitely not a fuel pump diaphragm rupture hose connection. It is a vacuum port most likely tied into a pcv valve in one of the rocker arm covers For years and years mercruiser just vented the covers on gm based engines to the flame arrestor but in the late 90's/early 2000's decided to add a...

    Volvo gimbal bearing removal

Older volvo sterndrives (aq series colloquially) do not use a gimbal bearing. There is a stub shaft between the engine flex plate/coupler and the u joint assy The picture shows the aft portion of the stub shaft (center) and the grease seal (green). Fwd of the grease seal is a bearing that is...

    Mercruiser 305 V-8 Temp issues

Agree with most inspections recommended here. Would look at the t-balls again. IME the balls often get worn/tapered at the housing side and turning them around along with retensioning the springs helps for overheat at lower rpm. The problem is too much water passes through the t valve and out...

    Mercruiser 4.3 MPI 2010 Connectors...

With no obvious info in an engine manual I'm gonna WAG its a digital sender connection for smartcraft. Normally there is a tag on the wiring near the connector, but not always and it may have fallen off May need a smartcraft manual to determine exactly what it's for. If the boat isn't equipped...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive ratio?

Factory should have been 2.00/1.98 If nothing has changed can verify by the letter stamped into the splined input shaft and cross reference with a chart in the manual. Otherwise you can remove the top cap and count the drive/driven gear teeth

Bring the current/broken heat exchanger to a local radiator repair shop. They ought to be able to repair it or find something as a suitable replacement

If the engine/alpha package is closed cooled oem then there are two raw water pumps. One mounted on the engine (inboard/bravo style) and one in the drive (alpha style)
