1998 Larson SEI 186 tilt motor isn't working

well, that glass fuse is missing one end, its toast. if you cant get the remains out, you may need to splice in a new fuse holder. Until you do this, you are pretty much dead in the water

    Volvo penta inboard tilt trim

yeah, you melted that relay...... Time to break out the wiring diagrams and see where the motor gets its power from. You "SHOULD" be able to directly wire to the motor for testing purposes ONLY, however with the amperage that it took to melt that relay, the motor may already be pooched.

    1995 7.4 Thunderbolt starting

Put one on an old El Camino I had when I was younger. Never had issues with it, unlike the Q-Jet it replaced..... But, like any mass produced piece, there are good and bad ones. I WILL say, they are much easier to change jets and metering rods on than the alternatives!!!

    Clanking/rattling sound after prop change

then I would say its a little early to get a really good plug read on them to determine lean. I dont see it in the pics, but are there any shiny metallic looking specs on the plugs? this is also a sign of detonation/preignition. You may still be running lean, but at this point I would call the...

    Clanking/rattling sound after prop change

from what I see, either those plugs have nearly no run time on them, or you are running lean. Center electrode porcelain should be more of a tannish color than the bright white you have there.

    Anyone Seen these?

Bingo. these are the folks that SEEK OUT technologies that will save them money. Seems to me there is a vacuum of testimonials from these sorts of folks that this prop is the next best thing since sliced bread. If it truly was as good as they say at saving money for operators, they would be all...

Mercruiser 350 mag mpi losing fuel after 30 seconds

there should not be any air movement when the cap is removed. If you are getting an air inflow, the vent is plugged, and your tank is running into a vacuum situation cutting off fuel flow. Once you screwed the cap back down, it resealed the tank, and the situation could repeat.

Mercruiser 350 mag mpi losing fuel after 30 seconds

check your tank vent...... loosen the fuel cap a bit and make a run (carefully), see if anything changes.

    Anyone Seen these?

Boating isnt cost effective, but putting a $4000 prop on a $400 boat isnt just not cost effective, its stupid.

    1995 7.4 Thunderbolt starting

its possible. QuadraBogs have a couple known leak points, but the Carter AFB's usually are pretty good about not leaking. Check your float height to make sure it isnt overflowing, but I cannot for the life of me remember if there are any welch plugs in the bottom that would leak. a porous...

Fuel gauge issue not working with new sending unit

should be. Check to make sure you have 12v at the gauge, a good ground on the gauge, and possibly check for continuity on the signal wire from tank to gauge. if you have the sender out of the tank, it will make it a bit easier, as you can manually move the float to check the gauge. these are a...

Fuel gauge issue not working with new sending unit

Im betting not all of them. I bought a second hand KUS stick style sender and have just a plain white Faria gauge. Works fine in my boat. Have it set up as pink wire for signal, other to ground. easy peasy.

    Restoring 1988 Doral Bowrider

if you have any questions, or need a bit of a tutorial, there are a LOT of threads in this forum here that have done just what you are about to do. You are not alone!!! good luck with the rebuild. It will be worth it in the end, and if you do it right, better than new

Fuel gauge issue not working with new sending unit

ok. having just had to replace both my gauge and the sender, there appear to be two different ohm ranges for the sender/gauge. 240-33 ohm and 0-190 ohm. obviously the two need to be on the same "system" in order to work right. Possibly a mismatched gauge/sender set is the issue?

    Restoring 1988 Doral Bowrider

opinions will vary, but the general consensus on this board is to start with CSM, and then 2 layers of 1708 over that, going about 6" out from the stringers on either side (at least). if you are using 3/4 ply for the stringers, you will play hell getting any of that to wrap up and over the...

SCREW HOLES STRIPPED OUT IN FIBER GLASS FLOOR OF BOAT..

the fiberglass is (or was) over something. Usually plywood. You will want to seal the holes, and either re-drill in the same locations, or seal the holes and move the screws to a new location. Do not just use longer screws The deck is typically only 1/2 inch plywood under the glass. Longer...

    1998 5.7 srartup

if its the original engine, its 24 years old. Not unusual for the seals to have become plasticized in that timeframe, and are no longer up to the job at hand. If the engine otherwise runs good, and shows minimal other signs of age, it wouldnt bother me, as long as the price reflects the...

Mercruiser 470 crankshaft sprocket play on shaft

awesome news. makes the repair a LOT easier and cheaper. Hopefully the root cause was just a poorly heat treated crank gear allowing the keyway to waller out

    1998 5.7 srartup

appears to be bluish in color, if it did it after sitting for a month, you could be starting to get leaky valve stem seals/guides (some have seals, most do not). if the engine is otherwise healthy, its more a nuisance than a problem at this point.
