Force 120 hp trouble whith tilt/trim

If it's not leaking?? the seals are ok. The Hyd. pump itself, don't take it apart. They can be real hard putting it back together. The o-rings come in a kit, but you'll need the model # from the tag on the pump The repair I suggested: take the o-rings off and turn them around.

Thanks to Jerry Jerry for all of his advice. Merry Christmas

Racerone and Jiggs and Don deserve to be on the list too. Lots more, just don't remember right now. I hit 70 this year and the memory is shot. I can remember the words to a song from the 60's but can't remember what I ate for breakfast :)

Force 120 hp trouble whith tilt/trim

99% of the problems with these units is LUBRICATION or lack of lube. The seal on the ram dries out and seizes and locks the ram or the seal pops out and leaks. I use White Lithium or even motor oil or marine grease. Lube it often.

Force 120 hp trouble whith tilt/trim

95 is all Mercury T@T On the other side of the housing 180d from the pressure relief is a cover, under that is a spool and sleeve. and a spring with check valve. The assembly needs to be cleaned. Use soap and water and then lube with WD-40 when you reassemble. Some cleaner/chemicals can swell...

    Yamaha outboard value.

It's a 2004 15 hp 2stroke. Very little use, been setting for the last 12 years that I know of. I got it running about 5-6 years ago and the owner put it right back in the shed after his son used it for a weekend. I know the amount of time means nothing but the looks do, The cover is...

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

1/2 turn. Probably not right??? Procedure for setting the air screw. Set at 1 1/2 turn out. In the water, in gear turn the screw in 1/8th a turn. Wait 10 seconds, then turn again 1/8th and wait 10 seconds. Repeat this until the motor bucks, kicks, stutters etc. Then turn out 1/2 turn. This...

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

The 3cyl. Forces: none really idle what you'd call smooth. The air/ fuel mix screw controls the operation up till about 2k, where's the screw set at now? They suggest 1 -1 1/2 out from lightly seated but that might not apply to your motor??? One customers motor needed to be set at 3 full...

    60 DEGREE vapor seperator function?

According to the invention, a fuel supply system for a marine engine comprises a vapor separator for receiving liquid fuel from a fuel tank and collecting vapors given off from the fuel, a high pressure pump having a fuel inlet for withdrawing liquid fuel from the vapor separator and a fuel...

1995 90HP Force Outboard Fuel Starvation

First, check the primer for power after startup. Sometimes the key switch keeps the primer feeding the carb and if so it won't get to full rpms and can even stall the motor. Backfire: even 1 tiny backfire can blow the gaskets on the port covers(3) this makes the motor suck air. Do a starting...

    1992 Bayliner 1700BR with 70 HP Force ?

That's a Mercury lower unit. The prop, if it's still OEM should have a part # under the nut and washer. DM 21824 propeller , that # shows it's probably an aftermarket, maybe a Michigan prop, maybe a Solas?? Somewhere between a 10p-14p I use a puller with 3 chains adapted to the head. It needs a...

    Intermittent "cough" during startup.

The cough: could be the primer is feeding too much fuel, the air screw not set quite right, water in the fuel(small amount) the starting procedure and probably a million other reasons?? MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

    1990’s Johnson/evinrude v4 similarities

What years on the motors? The gear ratio could be different, without the years/hp it would be hard to look up the parts.

    Starter Solenoid?

Unhook one lead from the start button. If the starter still turns, then the solenoid is faulty. A 12Volt test light is a real good tool to have in your tool box. Don't buy a cheapo.

    Transom clamp removal

2000 115 Johnson. The clamps have been soaked in salt water for years. The snap rings were hard to remove(painted over) and the pins are frozen in place. I tried a propane torch to remove the tilt ram pin, didn't budge. I have a acetylene torch but want to make sure I'm not missing something...

Force 120 Outboard Low compression - rebuild it?

Looks like TSM is the better way to go. Probably get the bearing kits too. See if the shop can cut .020 instead of .030 That will leave room for a future rebuild. Was at work one day and a customer brings in a boat and says the motor just blew up??? Comp low on 2 cyl. He said I have no idea...

    High idle

There's no tach, but from experience it's way past the idle. I'd say 3k plus. On hose. No tach hooked up. Another customer has the same motor and it runs good on the hose and drops down like it's supposed to?? Talked to owner last night, he says he got the motor to slow down by adjusting the...
