    1967 Sea King 6hp - Low Compression

Comparing the old gasket to the new. The holes don't need to be the same. As long as the comp ring is the same it should work. If the carb isn't too corroded??? it just might need a cleaning and no new parts?? Just make sure the jets are clear. A welders tip tool does a good job of cleaning the...

    Intermittent "cough" during startup.

The one turn out from lightly seated might not be open enough for your motor???? One customer needed his 84/85hp 3 carbs open almost 3 full turns out??? Sometimes: Different carbs need to be set at different levels??? Start at 1 turn and adjust from there. Turn 1/8th turn on the top carb and...

No spark 90 hp 1999 Force after switchbox replacement

It's the connector on the end of the wire on just about every Mercury electrical part sold. The plug in, male/female connector. Usually turning black from overheating.

No spark 90 hp 1999 Force after switchbox replacement

The trigger and coils rarely go bad on these motors. The Amphenol connectors do go bad. They get hot and loose contact. The coil in some cases can go bad but not all 4 at once. I've not seen a trigger go bad for a LONG time. In 95 they went from Force/Prestolite to Mercury ignition. In some...

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

If the tach is the wrong or bad it can cause a no spark situation.

No spark 90 hp 1999 Force after switchbox replacement

outboardignitiondotcom has test procedures for your motor, you can do the basic tests with a regular analog meter but the more technical you'll need a peak reading/DVA volt meter. pnwboat said the reg wouldn't stop the spark. But it can." from O.I. Disconnect the yellow wires from the...

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

My opinion: Seafoam's a waste of $$ I use Chevron with Techron. Black bottle, looks like an upside down funnel. Mix it with 1/2 gal gas. and run through the system. The primer has a diaphragm inside and it can leak fuel into the carb and cause poor running at all speeds. Once it's running...

    Fuel Filter

Before the pump makes the pump work harder. Most older boats by now have a water separating filter(or should have) and that catches the big stuff. The same with the settlement bowl and the filter on the other pump.

    90 compression on 135 hp

The HF gives results just not the right results. The good is all cyl. are the same and that shows they're probably ok.

Starter engages the flywheel but won't spin the engine

The one you have is easy to rebuild. The Sierra ones are the latest Chinese JUNK!!(and not the boat) If you want a rebuilt one?? ARCO starters are the only way to go. They're a US company and have good quality. A little expensive but you get what you pay for. But from the looks of your starter...

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

They're gold because they only used them for a limited time. The older Prestolite ones were used for 10-12 years and millions were used on the different Chryslers and Forces. They fit 50hp 85/90 120/125 and 150hp. Yours fits a bunch of motors from Force to Mercury, to Sport jet, Mariner etc. I...

Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

The sneeze is ok as long as it isn't backfiring. Backfiring can blow the port cover gaskets. That will allow the motor to suck air and cause major problems. Once it starts, do the starting fluid test, spray SF around the intake side, under the coils/packs and bases of the carbs. If that makes...

    Fuel Filter

I install small particle filters between the pump and the carbs. Fram G2 G3 G12 These are see through and easily changed. One of those will work depending on the hose size. The newer Forces from 94 up should have one from the factory.

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

If the magnets(even one) come loose?? then the rest are probably gonna follow :( The flywheels are rare and pretty expensive. Fact: you'll probably find a complete motor for the price of a used flywheel. Saw one on FB Marketplace for $550 new they're 600+ The flywheel fits a LOT of different...

Starter engages the flywheel but won't spin the engine

Just rebuild/clean the starter you have. Double check the battery cable for weak/soft spots. Bad grounds. Those part#s are hard to look up. Post a pic?
