    New Hitch Ball

I've been running that for about a year, got it for exactly the reasons you mention. The effect is very subtle, it isn't like you can push on it and move it. I does make a slight difference on a trailer with surge brakes as well as really crappy roads with expansion joins. It takes the edge...

starter lockout with rams full out

Nothing... Never heard of a lock out, but not impossible I guess.

    Couple questions about winterization..

Never understood why someone would run a 2 stroke mix through a 4 stroke engine. Ever see what happens to mixed fuel when the gas evaporates? You end up with an oily, goopy mess. Nothing in a 4 stroke fuel system will benefit by having oil in it, but it is an easy way to make sure you have...

    Pontoon Logs Leaking

Used to have an old Kennedy pontoon that was constructed somewhat like that. The logs weren't round tubes, they were welded flat pieces of aluminum, and there were 4 individual sections, separated by a common bulkhead. It actually saved the pontoon for us one time. The pontoon was pushed...

    Keel Guard Question

Although there probably is negligible performance differences, in theory a keel guard could actually reduce drag overall. Very likely it is putting quite a bit of air under the hull while running which reduces drag.

Bow riders with best engine access?

I don't have a good pic, but I'm surprised how easy it is to access stuff on my 2002 Hurricane Fundeck. Its only a 19' footer with a 4.3l, but because it doesn't have a sundeck, the entire rear bench flips forwards. I can sit down with the engine right in front of me. Starter, plugs all...

    Running my boat on Land

That is a sportjet. Technically an inboard in a sense. It is a force/chrysler 2 stroke vertical outboard engine mated to a jet drive, either 90/95, or 120 hp. The 120's 4 cylinder ones weren't bad. The 90/95's were prime examples of force engines. Be very, very careful running the smaller...

1993 Mercruiser 4.3 2bbl carb running out of power

How long did the engine sit idle? You didn't really specify, but was it not used for a couple years? I'd give every rubber part in the engine compartment a once-over. Although it seems counterintuitive, lack of use also causes 'wear', but in other ways. Take for example a accessory drive...

    Fuel pump issues

LIke MichaelBC mentioned above, that is bad! It should absolutely not pressurize with the key on. Take a look at your oil pressure sensor on the diagram above, very likely that is probably corroded internally and was allowing a small amount of voltage to leak through without oil pressure...

4.3 liter Mercruiser cool down period

About the only thing you don't really want to do is to go from hard throttle to shut off without a bit of idling. Some 4.3's in particular like to diesel if they are shut down without a little idling, and there is a risk of water ingestion if that happens. But yeah, lots of iron and a couple...

    Boat refueling

Yep, unless your tank is less than half full. :) In-tank pumps are usually pretty close to the top of the tank.

    New Tires

No, it isn't safest... ESPECIALLY with bias plys, running max on a lightly loaded tire means only the very center of the tread is in contact with the ground. It wears out tires unevenly, and causes the trailer to have very little traction. (you do want your brakes to work, right) It is all...

    Scissors lift question

those bars go in front of the pontoon, not behind. If you have them behind, the deck is supporting weight of half the pontoon, and you risk damage. Although there are safety chains, pontoons laying on a scissor trailer will NOT move easily no matter what you do.

    Jacking Trailer

Brave man trusting cinder blocks! I've seen them break with no warning. They aren't meant to be used for holding weight. In any case, never get under anything that is supported by a single point of failure. I almost always utilize multiple redundant stands &/or keep the jack in place with...

    Water splashing over transom

Those hooks are just there to make your life easier when mounting the engine. They aren't meant to be long term structural, all support is through the mounting bolts. Go boating and don't worry about it!

    Thru-hull oil drain

I'd have done pretty much the same. Pulled the plug after advising them it probably wasn't a good idea. A quart or two is worth seeing the look on their face when they realize they are idiots.

02 4.3l carb strange fuel problem

Based on a bunch of reading, lots from your older posts, this seems ALOT like the oil pressure switch issue. Cranking it gets power to the pump, and once it starts the pump no longer has power and it is running on the fuel in the bowl Off to check that now!

02 4.3l carb strange fuel problem

Bench tested today and more confused than ever! Tested the pump by itself, shot a stream of water about 3 feet up. (Although I can't be sure, I think it didn't spin the first time I had it on the battery, could have just been a loose connection though.) Pulled out the fuel hose and 1 way...

02 4.3l carb strange fuel problem

I had thought about that also. Going to do some bench testing of the pump as well as seeing if I can test the fuel flow. Got a spare anti-siphon valve ordered, luckily I've got full access to the tank through a hatch.
