    Removing old water lines

What you show are not water lines. That is residue from removed tape vinyl stripes.Good luck because it is either gonna come right off or be a heap of work to get removed.Start with an evening coat of WD40 and check back in the am with rubbing cloth in hand and see if anything comes off.Post back...

    Bottom Paint

Not a chance!!! Paint it or you will be sorry in a few months.Prep paint by pressure washing or stiff brushing it wet and put another coat.Sanding not necessary.I have done this for 40 years in salt.Unless you painted it last season in a "multi season" big $$$ bottom paint .....paint it before...

    Motor Knock

So rather than speculate and drive yourself nuts ,do this and isolate the noise yourself .Get a wooden broom stick.Put one end of the stick on the exhaust tube directly behind the risers with engine running.Put the other end of the broom stick in your ear.YES CORRECT,in your ear.You now have a...

Interior stains - what are they and how to clean?

Opinion ,not factual, from someone that has zero experience with the product on marine vinyl. Is that correct Commander? My advice is from 30+ years experience. My current cockpit vinyl is 20 years old and still looking excellent.I wipe it down with bleach once a season.Charlie

Installing Pedestal Seats in a Key West, Key Largo or Palm Beach CC

I would recommend being extremely careful .All of those boats are light duty in their construction. You will surely need to reinforce beneath where you are looking to secure them.I would consult manufacturer. Charlie

Interior stains - what are they and how to clean?

rachelcarr08 ,I have had same in the past and here is what you need to do.Take a rag or facecloth.Saturate it with some good old fashioned bleach. Not spillproof or extra strength, just regular bleach.Avoiding any stitching, put the saturated cloth on a section of the dirty area and leave it there...

1989 Mercruiser 5.0/alpha water leaking from timing cover.

What are you cleaning up??? Did you use a new circulator pump?? Tighten you clamps with a socket after you think they are tight with screwdriver.Very common safety practice is to double clamp everything.Very cheap insurance.Charlie

    Replacing snaps

Most should be able to unscrew and just screw in new.Dont overtighten .Dont use 42 or 5200 sealant as it wont lock it in.I always had success filling the hole with gelcoat repair and hand screwing in the snap while curing. Not the perfect way of doing it but quick and effective.Charlie

    Replacing snaps

Are u referring to the snaps on the canvas or the part on the boat? You can buy all of these parts and redo them. The ones on the canvas require a special tool to put the snap together.Kinda pricey tool though. You may be better off purchasing an entire kit which has an assortment of snaps and...

Getting new boiler, get separate water heater or not???

New boiler is in my near future.I have conflicting recos from 2 boiler guys. One says to just get a boiler with a coil inside for my hotwater.Other guys says to get a slightly better quality boiler with Riello burner for same money w/o coil and get a separate water heater.Boiler is oil fired and...

Bilge pump runs does not pump

What does your wiring look like? Try this as I remember having a pump a looooong time ago that had the wires switched bass ackwrds and instead of it not working,it worked but spun backwards.its a longshot but worth a look.Another possibility is hair or string/debris wrapped around the impeller...

    Oxidation issues

DO NOT TAKE THAT ADVICE!! !! I owned a blue hulled Regal.Oxidation was much worse than yours. It all depends on what has already been done to try to get rid of it.If there have only been "miracle cures" like wiping on different products then this will be a big advantage to you.If the gelcoat has...

    Palm Beach center console

I have been on one owned by a friend. If I remember correctly it looked very nice from the outside however once aboard all seemed extremely cheaply made. The hull looked very thin and single wall basic .I did not like it once aboard at all.Sorry I dont remember much else.Hope this helps.Charlie

    Small used cc

Nope, perfect fit bunk/roller tilt trailer.Last roller is within 2" of stern.I replaced it with an easy roller trailer when someone who also had a 17' Mako made me an offer for it that I would have been crazy to refuse. He wanted a tilt trailer really badly.Charlie

Oil fired boiler....Is the block replaceable?

Gets interesting here.Should probably start another thread.I came across someone that just converted their home from a 2 family with a rental back to a single family for prop tax purposes. He had to pull out the 2nd boiler and tank. The boiler is a Weil Mclain WTG-5 175000 btu with a Riello...

    Small used cc

The best center console money can buy is a 17ft Mako.I have had one for over 20 years and it is tough as nails.I very highly recommend it.As with any older boat ,have it professionally checked out .it will be the best couple of hundred bucks you will ever spend.Charlie

    3 blade prop

b29keebird Call 1800 USREGAL and ask for the parts dept.Keep trying until you get someone on the line from parts.Extremely knowledgable. They will be able to give you the original factory specs for prop.Thats what I would use.Charlie
