    If you decide to continue with the rebuild, just put everything back the way it was. It lasted this long, and there must have been a reason they designed it that way. The bunched up glass won't matter because you'll cut it out anyway. Just lay yours out better.

    That has a lot of answers. Take lots of measurements, get all materials ready before starting, don't skip the safety gear. Probably. If you're fixing stringers or bulkheads within 1ft or so then definitely. If you think they're rotten "here", then it's likely to extend farther than you think...

    It will with gel too. Gel is porous, and water will soak through eventually. That's what causes blisters on the bottom.

    I'm hourly, but I make decent money because I care about the shop too. The quicker I get it done, the more money we make, and the sooner I get a raise. Everybody wins. It just annoyed me because if I didn't have to deal with the tape I could have had it glassed before lunch. Flex seal? Dear god...

    Vinyl decals are different. The adhesive isn't as thick or aggressive. For those heat gun and acetone work pretty easily. Old one that come off in bits can also easily be done with the eraser wheel.

    I'm pretty sure I have. It might work on some of the thinner stuff, but a lot of it is just too gummy. The stuff I just took off was really thick. Heat, scrape a couple inches, clean scraper, repeat. It's just an annoying waste of time for me.

    Yeah, that's not how it works. Heat and scraper yes, but the tape will often come off in pieces. A lot of this glue doesn't come off very quick with acetone either. As far as being preferable to sinking, don't go out with a holed hull.

    I have a waverunner to fix, and the owner or marina put this vinyl tape over the holes. For anyone who thinks about doing something like this, please don't. It just makes your repair shop's job harder. Some of this stuff is really hard to peel off, and you can never get all the adhesive off...

    I would suggest the foam strip. It'll dampen any vibrations and give a bit of shock absorption. If you do silicone, you'll just squish out pretty much all of it, and you'll hate it if you ever have to take the windshield back off.
