    Is it possible that all the extra oil has been diluted with fuel ..... does it smell like oil. Its not unheard of for leaky float valves to allow fuel to drain into motor and dilute the oil

    Check its not coming out the crankcase breather , and that oil level is correct , measure the amount of oil recommended rather than rely on dipstick .

    A couple of things to check , is it actually getting full throttle at the carbs ( check the linkages to verify the throttle shafts turn nearly 90 deg . Is it running on all cylinders at full throttle ( it may idle on all cylinders but not at full throttle )

    if you can replicate the fault by squeezing the cdi module , plus the thing working when warmed up ( the change in the temp of the cdi can cause things to "move about " ) makes me think of a dry joint somewhere in the cdi . Depends how brave you are :) , but I would have a look for dry...
