If it's a 96 then your original plugs are correct and they are still available.

    1978 70hp Stinger Outboard

An old outboard is worth whatever your willing to pay and how much you need it. I would advise doing a compression check and then do a new assessment.

    Evinrude 25 Lean sneeze

Is it sneezing at idle in nutruel or when you go to take off it hesitates? With those motors, on the link and sync you want the timing to advance a little before the carb starts to open.

    1986 Johnson 9.9

You say water isn't coming out the pea tube but then you say the grommet is good because it's coming out where it's supposed to. That makes no sense. Some things you can do is start it and shoot it with an IR gun and see if it's staying cool. Also, remove the rubber hose from the pea nozzle and...

    E-tec 40 hp

Another etec owner (2009 115 950hrs) From what I was told less pollution and better gas mileage then a four stroke....they might have stretched the truth here but if you have never had one and are used to old 2 strokes they are night and day. Amazing really. Good luck on your purchase and watch...

Typically the commercial motors had lower compression to last longer and start easier.

Johnson 55 hp electric start conversion.

Here is the electrical kit you would need to convert to a starter system. Remember, you also need a charging kit to keep your battery powered so it's not as simple as one might think. Pull the recoil and you will see some Pawls on the bottom. Cleaning and possible adjustments should get it working correctly.

Johnson 55 hp electric start conversion.

Last conversion I did was on a 35 and I had to swap out the flywheel as well. Not sure on that motor. You need to find a parts motor.

All those upper end seals are pretty easy. Go slow and don't break a bolt!

6 hp evinrude water in gearcase

I would try Cosby's suggestion....easy first move. By the way, tough little gearcase and if you hurt it there are lots of used ones out there. People burn up the power heads more often.
