    Cutting cable TV

I find it hard to pay for any TV if they are dumping commercials at me all the time. The commercials are paying their service bills, air time and transmission capabilities and they are making an extra killing charging the consumers too! Either pay, with no commercials, or make it free, not both...

    Hull support trestle

Depending on your boat/hull design, that can be anything from a few support areas to an entire cradle design. Anything that can support the boat is workable. I've seen some people use old tires or block foam to support their boats. But without pictures, that is about all I can offer. Post a...

Repairing rotten wood on bass tracker deck!

Until you actually get into the removal of the "rotted" wood section, you basically haven't got a good idea of the total rot yet. Don't plan on a simple little removal area and then find out there is much more to this then first thought. Rotted wood is the tip of the iceberg. Once you start...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

Since you already have plans to remove the floor and such, make absolutely sure when you rebuild the sub-floor area around both seats, that those areas can handle such weight. If that means adding a much more substantial bulkhead/stringer construction, then do that. Such sub-floor structure is...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Well I have been working the transom cap and hope to have it and the corners installed for final real soon. I finally come to the reality that you can polish a turd and make it shiny and pretty, but in the end it is still a turd. That came to me this morning while trying to seal every possible...

    Need parts

The second part picture isn't even the correct part. The metal angle is set up for the opposite of what you have. Yours angles to the right looking at it from the screw hold perspective. The "new" one angles to the left like it was for some other engine setup. Just my opinion... Knowing how I...

    Need parts

I guess I have to ask, how do you know your coils are bad? Obvious burnt issues or what? Just wondering...

    Old Coast Guard Horn

Well Scott, the only defense I have about the "resistor" issue is that it was upside down. So how could you expect me to be able to read that? I can hardly read things right side up and most certainly can't stand on my head... lol

    Old Coast Guard Horn

Yep, looked at it again and it states the resistance on the part. Thanks for the correction. And I just had my eyes checked/tested and she stated they were good without glasses. Hummm....

    Old Coast Guard Horn

I have no additional info on it, but it should be pretty easy to get it working. It is a standard buzzer type setup. The only electronic part looks like a capacitor. And even if that cap tests bad, shouldn't be hard to buy a replacement cap of the proper size. And if the relay/buzzer is open or...

Best Method for loosening stuck bolts.

Is it possible to weld on a nut on top of the broken bolt? The welding will certainly heat up the bolt as well. Just an ideas...

    Tiller handle won't shift gears

My opinion is to disassemble the unit and repair the problem. It was designed to work and there is a reason it isn't now. So take the time to fix the issue and you will have it working like it is supposed to. Rigging up some other shifting method is not the answer. JMHO

1999 Doral 270 - Dash Switches not working

We all do silly things. But it has to be a relief to know what was the problem too. Glad you figured it out and everything is working now. A new lesson learned!

Best Method for loosening stuck bolts.

There are so many "good" ways to remove stuck bolts on the internet. One that I've seen that seems to work well is using the torch and of course penetrating oils and take a hammer and peen the head of the bolt to help fracture any corrosion before you start trying to remove it. And I too really...

    Wood for bulkheads

If this is still a working current thread, just understand that you need to keep the weight as low as possible. So the idea option would be to use aluminum for everything. Realizing that could cost a small fortune, if you go the wood route, keep is simple and light. 1 X ?'s would do for the...

Clearing salt build up from block

Never dealt with such a situation myself, but if you could get to the water inlet section, you could run water through it until it didn't test positive for salt anymore. Flushing would be a good thing and then a slow flow of clean water until it was cleared of all salt. IDK, never done such a...

1969 Mako cut and gut project by Lectro88

If you were to look at so many other resto's on these threads, your pictures look exactly like every other boat resto project. It is how they get when they are way over do for a rebuild... Keep posting and ask questions for ideas and help. We all had to learn the boating lingo and the how-to's...

Question about parts that aren’t being manufactured anymore

If you can't find a new part, or even a used part, that shouldn't be that hard to duplicate, or make something that would work equally well. That is what being an older boat owner is all about. But that equally is what makes it so interesting at the same time too... JMHO

    Random

Okay thanks for that info. We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher a little over a year ago and it too has the same quiet db rating as the Bosch version. It was a toss-up between the two but the wifey liked the KitchenAid one better (cost about the same as well). IDK. And it too is remarkably quiet to...
