How does my battery selector switch work

Here is a little pictorial diagram of how the battery switch is setup. Seem you were reading from the common terminal to the ground. So in every position but the "off" position you were reading 12.6 volts. Hope this helps you see it a little better. :noidea:

Hummingbirds, no not the fish locator type

We have some hummingbirds around our place. I am not talking about one or two, but 50 to 100 birds or even more. We have been feeding hummingbirds for about a decade now and every year we get covered up with them, especially closer to fall when they seem to feed up for their migration journey...

Had an unusual things happen to me today and was wondering if anybody else had any similar experiences. Our family eats out most every Sunday together. And we change the places we eat each week as well. Well today we went to Buffalo Wild Wings. We all seem to enjoy their wings very much. We had...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Mike, here are a few pictures of the tank fuel connections and the float arm. Both tanks are identical with this type connection. Nothing is broken or rusted beyond some minor surface rust. I removed one from the tank and interestingly enough, as I was removing one of the attachment screws...

How do you disconnect OMC style 400cables at the box?

You could easily use a standard screw being how there should be two for each cable end, one from each side to hold the cable in place. On some of my ends there were regular screws tighten against the inter cable to hold them in place. So most any thing would work for those ends. And on my...

How to know when it's time for new steering cable

WOW randyray41, seems you are lucky to be alive. Always always use that kill switch. If we all knew when something bad was going to happen, then we would only use kill switches and life preservers for those times. But we don't know that before hand. Okay, if I were to be questioning a steer...

    Interesting spark plug info

I was watching some YouTube videos a few days ago and saw this video concerning spark plugs. And one thing caught my eye and I had to try it for myself. Seems you can easily make a resistive spark plug a non-resistive plug quite easily. I figured hearing that, it was some goofy idea and never...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Okay, here is where my boating project stands. I have basically finished most everything needed on the top side of this boat. No, I haven't installed the actual live well. But that is because I didn't want to add anymore weight to the hull for the painting flip. So that will get installed after...

    Quality 2 stroke oil?

Once again reading the "Best" 2 cycle oil to use thread. And without fail, everybody seems to have their favorites with personal backup stories as well. However, I recently acquired two old OMC and Johnson 6 gallon metal fuel tanks. And on one of them, it states to use their oils for mixing. But...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Okay folks, it has been some time since I last posted on here. So I will try to bring everybody up to date on this project. While I have done some work on the boat, it isn't that easy to see. But I do have pictures anyways. I have basically finished all the magnetic proximity switch installs...

small boat electrical horn wiring help

Here is a typical boat horn setup with one exception, there is no fuse or circuit breaker inline. You really need a fuse or circuit breaker in any circuit. You can install one either at the battery, or most anyplace inline. However, if you run this horn circuit straight from the battery, I...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Is that Mike Taylor time? :noidea: I think I am slower then that too... nurseman, seems we have crappie spawns early this year but unless I can finish the boat and then locate them after the spring spawn, I have to wait until next spawn. Of course I do like to bass fish. But...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Well since the colored poly did cure, I finished up the rod boxes today. And now I can prewire the LED's and reed switches and PB the tops on. And once I pre-fit the stick steering cable setup in, I think I will flip it and start the prep work for paint. Here are todays pictures. A front port...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Okay folks here are the results. I say yes is can be done. And the only reason I was wondering because I have four areas (two now) that still needed CSM water proofing even though they had polyester resin over most of the areas already. So I did mix up 500ml today and cut two pieces of CSM to...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Okay folks, I tried. But no go with the stick steering. It is literally too long. Now if I cut a hole through the side of the hull and run the steering cable out of the boat and then back in, it will work. So here are a few pictures. What do you all think? I already contacted the company...

    Dodge Pick up Restoration Recomendation

I realize that not everybody has the proper tools to refurbish a vehicle. I know that personally because I didn't when I started refurbishing an old '96 Geo Metro. It looked like somebody used it in a demolition derby. The only section that was not dented up was the driver's front fender...

    Air Compressor issues

Recently I've noticed that is seems my shop air compressor is taking a lot longer to pump up. Even small pneumatic air tools that use to run with few cycling, is now making the compressor run constantly. And the tools are not running with any real power as well. So I was thinking what could be...

Help with remote control for 1975 evinrude 25

Colin, your engine has a part called a steering bracket. Of course that part is obsolete but I'm assuming yours is well and good. There is a hole in the center of that steering bracket and that is where you will attack your steering setup regardless which type you chose. Now all you have to do...
