Proppy, Prop Prop Prop! SO CONFUSING!

I'll bet you that going 4 pitches down won't dial + 800 wot rpm, will dial way, way, way more. The stupid rule of thumb casted on stone that states +,- 200 wot revs with one +,- pitch can't be applied for all combos. That math only works well on heavy combos as this one and OP's has a light...

carb leaks at throat, no float seat available

If fuel is overflowing carb after bulb has been primed to a firm condition, it's definitely a needle & seat tech issue, carb components not doing their homework right. Hope this valve cleaning suggestion ends OP's frustration : Needle tip must be sharp pointy, not rounded, degraded and needle...

    inflatable boat moving motor hanging

    Inflatable or rib?

There's an interesting 10.8 footer 2 layer deck/ hull alum version made by Merc Marine, check their web page under Alum Rib. A flat deck is better than a single layer round deck when transpoorting objects that needs to be sitting up or fishing standing up. There are also other nice Rib brands...

    high thrust prop

If water flow at speed skims right over the uuper small plate motor will produce side, back or even over transom water splashes which will slow combo down. Best top prop thrust is achievedt right under small plate with motor trimed to 90 deg and deck weight evenly distributed. Will need to drop...

    25 hp blowout The

If wanting boating perfection, lowering the transom down is the way to go. With 1 1/2 will work much better than as now. Be advised that if the file is way down, water flow at speed will smash against the X splash zone right over the upper plate as in post # 17 and produce out water splashes as...

    25 hp blowout The

Thought that were going to state at which lower leg height is water flow passing by at speed with motor trimmed to 90 deg, this is most important to determine, without this missing info won't see the light at the end of the tunnel anytime soon. Will waste precious boating time along dumping...

    Inflatable Added Protection

Anyway if wanting some added protection under tubes buy a Rub Strake by the meter along 2 part PVC glue, check Iboats if available. Glue under middle tubes, the whole flat extension. Happy Boating

    25 hp blowout The

Some issues not clear : That's a L shaft Mariner Motor along a L transom height ? If motor is trimmed to 90 deg, hull planes parallel to water level and deck weight is evenly distributed on deck will dare to say that water flow at speed is passing somewhere 2 and 3 which is the aeration zone...

Propping Right a 45 Ft Sailboat.-

My cousin just received a brand new out of the french shipyard Beneteau 45 footer. It's equipped with a Yanmar 40 HP saildrive unit, the lower leg and prop is located somewhere middle to aft of the sailboat. Much better than the traditional shaft and prop drive method. Motor specs states max...

    J24-Tohatsu 5 HP Raid.-

A Yam 8 HP long shaft motor was going to be used as a kicker to power the J-24 sailboat. Owner now knows that using a motor on salt water and sporadically being flushed with fresh water after its use will collect salt water crusts, deposits on all cooling water passages and eventually will...

    J24-Tohatsu 5 HP Raid.-

Paul, Will be making a 100-120 Km water raid on a J24 sailboat powered with a 2 strokes Tohatsu 5 HP motor. Being a 1 ton sailboat was wondering if throttling to say max 3/4 throttle at whatever rpm runs will be OK as not to stress the little horse. The motor has been prop maxed with a 3 blade...

    Fuel/Oil Mix Ratio.-

Was wondering in which year did Yam started using 100:1 fuel/oil ratio on their 2 strokes 8 HP motors ? Is there a missing collar that holds in place the thermostat inside cylinder head, or this model only uses a thermo without collar. Someone stole what was inside.. Year is unknown, but...
