1970 River Queen Houseboat new owner here!

I do almost all my own maintenance, but here is a couple FB pages you can join to get info. HDG Yacht Basin Slip Holders and Upper Chesapeake Recreational Boaters. I don’t post on them but do look in on occasion.

1970 River Queen Houseboat new owner here!

I was onboard today from 12:30 thru 4PM. Got things all set for winter. i don’t have any pull from the staff, Steve wants to spruce up the marina by removing abandoned boats. The lease also requires all boats to be mechanically sound and run. Maybe you can put an outboard on it to make it move.

1970 River Queen Houseboat new owner here!

Well, how about that, your Party Barge is in the same marina as my Silverton. Looks like your on Pier 1 or 2. I’m in slip 632 near the ramp. Welcome to the neighborhood! Ive been here for 19 years (!) and there’s almost always something interesting going on. Stop on by and say hello if you see...

    Battery size for fishfinder

I had a portable FF that ran off 8- D cell flashlight batteries. It typically lasted for the entire summer. FWIW, on my tinny I use a lawn tractor battery. It not only runs the sounder, horn, and running lights, but also starts the 25HP outboard.

14 row boat to center console

I started with the front of the console about 18” behind the center bench. in that position it was easy to reach the wheel from the rear bench but too heavy in the rear (even with anchor and a spare fuel tank up front). I then moved it forward 16”. That made a huge difference but I still felt it...

14 row boat to center console

Very good advice here from Lectro88 and dwco5051! Stability of small boats is easily affected when weight is moved around or increased. I will add this: make every effort to keep the weight balanced and as low as possible. I added a console to my 1448 BigJon. Did not remove any bench. I...

    8'6" Beam

Ranger Tugs have a few models that have what you want. I know their 27 footer has a 8’6” beam, not sure about the 29. I like your screen name!👍

    Looking For A console

First, welcome to iBoats, you’ve come to the right place! Might want to contact Lowe Boats, see if they’ll sell you one. Otherwise, make your own. That’s what I did with my 1448. It’s just painted plywood.

    getting rig of the carpet.

Pull the carpet, sand or scrape it smooth, paint the deck with a 2 part paint with some grit mixed in. You’ll never look back.

    Anchor Upgrade...need Real World Reviews

I have a 34’ flybridge sportfish. My first Delta was 22# and worked fine in normal conditions but I upgraded to 35# because I often spend nights at anchor and want the extra safety margin if the weather turns. EDIT: I’ll also add that when anchoring, - ALWAYS - set it with engine power.

    Anchor Upgrade...need Real World Reviews

For your boat any 13# anchor should only be onboard for use as a secondary hook. You need a heavier anchor that will penetrate the grass and dig into the bottom.i have similar bottom conditions where I boat and found the Fortress F23 the minimum size. Further, the fluke design tends to sail when...

    SHALLOW WATER

When operating in shallows with underwater snags, run at a low idle so the engine will stall before any damage can be done to the prop or gear case. Earlier this summer I was exploring some backwaters with my 1448 and, sure enough, caught a tree root. Motor stopped, pulled it up, separated root...

Ideas for balancing 12' Fiberglass Boat

What I do with my 14’ tinny- second (full) gas tank up front, along with the anchor, oars, fire extinguisher and flares. I also added a bow troller and group 31 battery up there. I think I’ve found the sweet spot!

Force 50 (1988) comes out of water in reverse

I don’t have a Force, but there‘s definitely a reverse lock on it. My Evinrude has a simple lever on the starboard side of the gear case next to the transom clamp.

    Box Anchors?

No personal experience but a friend who has a 38' Formula has had one for years and always recommends them to anyone who asks about it. He is an engineer and a retired Indycar team manager, so he knows his stuff.
