Mariner 45hp Carburetor Leaking after Total Rebuild....stumped!

Long shot but there is such a thing as a "Jewelers Lathe". A friend of mine has one. Maybe a machinist has one in your area.

Following, What rectifier/regulator did you use to reduce voltage? My 850 Merc is charging 17.5 volts, don't like it, shouldn't have installed a volt meter 🤔

Problem Restarting, Idling and Acceleration when the engine is warm. Merc 140hp 3.0 Alpha 1 Gen 1.

That magneto will drop down after removing 4 small bolts. Some are a ***** to work out due to carb/linkage. There is a blind spline and can only go together one way. Points will be corroded, clean carefully and gap to .008". Careful with everything in there. Points alone are $50 if you can find...

1981 Mercury 75hp water pump question

Interesting, I've had my 75, 850 apart several times for water pump change. Never noticed that (step) of course I don't remove the base unless there's water in lower unit. How high is it? .005, .010 ?

    Merc 850 / model #4093045

Plan on a complete rewire. Insulation on wires of that era gets brittle and falls off. Rotor in distributor is part of shaft, don't attempt to remove or get $200 ready to replace.

    Trim pump solenoid

I call the one for the engine Starter a "Slave" solenoid. The actual starter solenoid is located on the engine. It's used because of voltage drop from key switch to starter.

    '76 Merc 50hp "Switch Assembly"

I had to completely rewire my 1975 Mercury 850 control box to all engine wiring. Mercury Corp. used cheap wiring in all their 70's engines.

    '76 Merc 50hp "Switch Assembly"

Some call it a Mercury switch, the liquid metal, not the company:) In forward gear the motor is unlatched and will flip up when hitting something submerged, causing the switch to close and ground the ignition system momentary, shutting down the engine.
