    Need another Motorcycle...

Pulled the trigger this afternoon on a super nice '97 Kawasaki ZX-11, and rode it home 120+ miles. That was a cold ride for the last half or more. It's not as comfortable as the bikes I was used to (or the '84 Honda I tested), and visibility due to mirror location isn't really great - hard...

"Christmas staff fund charge" on my marina bill?

Reminds me of the "shop supplies" thing that I've seen tacked onto auto maintenance bills. Like paper towels, fingernail brushes and stuff? Lol. And yes, the fuel surcharge that came up those years ago.

    Need another Motorcycle...

I came, I saw, I rode, and I decided to pass. Still like the style. There was too much on that one that stacked up against it - cosmetically and mechanically. At least as far as I'm concerned. But it did run and shift quite well, that I could tell. Doesn't seem like a bike you'd casually...

    Need another Motorcycle...

No, I'm just responding to Bob's be cautious advice (well founded, esp. on a bike that looks like this one). I'm really asking for a cycleanalysis on a bike y'all haven't even seen or heard, lol. My plan is to go see it and decide in person if our schedules will line up (especially after...

    Need another Motorcycle...

How would I know there was a problem? I'm leaning toward renting a trailer and having a look. I've seen that cams were an issue for the early ones of these, and something about aftermarket cam oiling kits. Unless there's something obvious, I know I'd be kind of rolling the dice on the whole...

    Need another Motorcycle...

Found an '84 VF1000F a few hundred miles away. The price is right, but the bike looks to match it. Guy says it runs "good". May or may not go to see it. Really don't want a project. He's got an old Interceptor collection for sale.

    Another crazy car question...

Yes. Multitasking - warm it up, add a little oil at the same time. Not my usual practice though. Funny thing about the dipstick - it's got a crosshatched area that holds oil. IOW, you can't check it cold w/o wiping the dipstick (like I usually do on my others). When I finally found that...

    Happy Thanksgiving

    Thank you, same to you.

    Another crazy car question...

There is just the slightest pull on the cap when it's unscrewed and I'm lifting it off. Tried to see if a bit of smoke would pull into the dipstick hole or blow away, but there wasn't enough to tell. I had just started it when I first noticed it the other day, and it seemed like a lot of air...

    Another crazy car question...

Ok, somebody slap me... It does seem to be vacuum. I wondered about that. It sounded just like the air escaping from my Caprice gas tank when it's nearly empty, just not as loud. That's prob vacuum too, lol.

    Another crazy car question...

So I opened the oil fill cap on my Acura the other day after I started it, to add some oil, and it was pressurized... That surprised me. It's a 3.2L VTec. Maybe Japanese cars don't have "PCV"? Probably normal, I just didn't expect that. Great car, it just drips a lot of oil. I had to take...

Put 'er up for the Winter

Maybe I just needed to wait for it (to come out pink). Didn't have anyone back there to look at it this time.

    Texas Raiders B-17, P-63

Didn't look like either one of them had any idea what was about to happen. Echo the, thankfully no one on the ground hurt. Per one video I saw, they were off the airport just seconds before that, over businesses and stuff where people were watching.

    Texas Raiders B-17, P-63

Did y'all see that horrific crash? Awful. Only B-17 I've ever been in. Tossed the idea of going to that airshow a month or two back, but didn't.

Put 'er up for the Winter

Tell me about that! High in the 40s here today and winds gusting into the 30s. I just crawled under the tarp for most of it, lol. I did have to pull it back while it was running because it was catching too much exhaust. I told my wife to remind me to do it when it's warmer next time. She...

Oil Change and Gear Oil Change issue . Can you help ?

One thing to watch for - Wal Mart sells 2 versions of 30 weight oil right next to each other (and a little apart from all the rest of it). One is the vehicle stuff, and the other says "lubricating oil" or something like that. Very similar bottles.

Put 'er up for the Winter

I was holding out for one more day, like earlier this week but it didn't work out (wasn't much chance really). Didn't have a choice but to go ahead and winterize today since it's going to be pretty cold tonight. I put fuel stabilizer in this time, ran it for 15min, and fogged through the carb...
