    General carb questions

The hole in the airhorn is the bowl vent. Where it vents is inside the flame arrestor so that keeps debris out. the rod with the spring is the actuator for the power valve. engine vacuum will pull it up when at light throttle, when vacuum drops as throttle is opened, the spring pushes it down...

alpha one gen 2 bellhousing broke at exhaust bellow mount (nipple?)

yeah I often find on dirty castings you have to heat it with the tig torch almost forming a bead just to get the junk up on the surface and wire brush it. Saw it on a welding you tube channel where I guy was welding an old motorcycle transmission housing. Sounds like you will be fine with the...

    No spark thunderbolt 5.

I saw one relatively cheap a few years back and bought it for a spare. It is a shame they are so pricey as the TB is a really good ignition system

alpha one gen 2 bellhousing broke at exhaust bellow mount (nipple?)

I can only figure you hit something never seen one break there are there is no stress on it. I would think you can get in there enough with a TIG with a flat back cap and short tungsten. You don't have to completely weld 360 * it as it is open to the water anyways... Alternatively you could...

    Ujoints clunking?

yes and no.... yes in that the zerk may hit or not be useable (on bearing cap), but there are work arounds on the gen 2 I have to position the 90 deg zerk such that you cant get a grease gun on it to keep it from hitting as the joints fully articulate. Have to turn it about 30 deg when...

    Sea Doo GTI 130 Owners?

Looking at buying a 2016 GTI 130 to replace our '04 GTI RFI LE. Is the 130 enough power for watersports? I like the fact that this is a more entry level ski as we use it for a quick cruise , skiing/tubing/wakeboarding, we have a 21 ft boat so its not our only way to get on the water. Would...

    Older Ryobi 18v drill battery

That is a good point. I would second that. I bought no name L.I. batteries off amazon for my dads dewalt. They work great. It looked like from the reviews there was a 25% chance the battery has a short life... at the price even 3 of these vs 2 dewalt branded ones is a huge savings.

    No spark

Go through the troubleshooting guide. The TB is a great system and the guide will walk you through it. only issue with the TB system is if the igntion module goes, they are expensive if they are still available. At any rate we can walk you through it. you sound mechanically competent and it’s...

I'm doing my Bellows. Mercruiser A1G1. Are the Amazon Bellows Kits any good?

Get an oem merc. They last a long time. My original ones on my 2004 boat were changed at 18 years and still not leaking

Mercruiser 3.0 started twice perfectly overfilled the gas now won't start

So the floor is rotten enough to compress the gas tank and push fuel out the vent? Floor usually rots after the stringers and transom rot, or is this a carpeted cover over fuel tank

Mercruiser alpha 1 gen 2 alarm sounding

that is a decent rule of thumb but I have found the OEM impellers last much longer in fresh water use. I have never let mine go this long but I changed a 11 year old OEM impeller on my neighbors boat a few years back. Was the original impeller no signs of high temps, was a perfectly good...

Rain water getting into front of boat (Sea Ray 180)

Its not the material so much but rather the way the bow piece fits against the windshield area. Almost like roofing from a flashing perspective its dumb... Its the same on my 2004 Sea Ray 200. My neighbor/good friend had a similar size vintage Fourwinns that had the same issue, when he spoke...
