    Is the engine digital throttle & shift? There's a possibility there is water inside the PCM if the water got that high. If used on your engine, the clean power wire harness might be affected too.

    With the drive off, insert and secure a hose either without a end fitting or a hose adaptor that fits in the water hole port of the bell housing intake port, turn water on and run the engine as long as you like.

    Honestly probably no real need on our part to add more as the 2 photos above helped tell us the story and find the info you need to move forward better at finding all the parts you'd need. But again this boat went from a 5.0 to a good 5.7 engine.:cool:(y)...Enjoy.:)

    You essentially still have a Volvo engine combination...Was there still a plastic cover over the flame arrestor that said 5.?G??? number and letter wise? Here should be all your engine and drive parts and it looks as if you originally had a 5.0GLPWTR...

    Do you have a photo of the engine handy? Being you have both a Volvo drive and Merc engine block, you'll need to know what engine components are on the outside of the block...Mostly that is and depending on the type of service work you're doing here. 807449R50 is the model/engine block part...

    Seems Mercruiser may have sold (sent it out) it as a stand-alone drive to someone directly vs putting it in an engine application combination package to fit a certain boat production...Probably internal record keeping to help keep mistakes down to a minimum of mixing wrong gear ratios to engine...
