    Good point . I have. 2 grey wires on mine one to coil one to tach. If no wire is on net post of coil It will not fire. can disconnect the tach wire on back of tach Or check for continuity to ground with a volt meter

    Disconnect the tach wire (grey) at negative post on the coil. This will remove any chance the tach is killing the spark you can also disconnect it and check for continuity to ground with a volt meter. woukd agree battery and connections both positive and negative are suspect given the voltage drop

    On an analog engine that is the only way to know it is running ( or should be…) power to ignition circuit.

    the oil pressure alarm doesn’t interrupt the ignition. It just makes the buzzer go off when below 4 or 7 psi.

    Wi willing to bet during cranking you are loosing voltage, start with positive battery and ground cables.ther are 2-3 at the back on flywheel cover Measure with a volt meter on positive terminal of coil while cranking should stay close to 12. Then go through the thunderbolt ignition...

    That’s the point with a press you wont damage the splines unless you are chit faced…a bar on either side of the bearing or use bearing separator , press down on the center of the shaft with a pice of round stock or socket

    Yeah I put mine on wheels but fervently stub my toes on it. I bought mine for rebuilding the suspension and changing rear gears on my gto. Was right there when rebuilding jet pump on the seadoo and doing seals and bearings on my outdrive. For all the work you do it’s worth it.

    If you were changing the u joints yes take the yoke off put it in a $100 harbor freight press and it will come off with out damaging anything The press is well worth the investment

    It isn’t the tightest fit when new but based on your comments replace the bushing and seal likely is needed based on your comments

    Yes you can cut it off just take care on the inner race not to cut into drive shaft
