    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

Yes, I plan on checking the pressure tubes first and the diaphragms, then the actual wastegate mechanism. It would be nice to remedy the situation, as everything else seems to be fine with the truck.

Boat construction question on gelcoated underdeck surfaces

As mentioned, there are a variety of ways that fiberglass stringer systems are made and integrated into the hull. Maybe Rec Boat Holdings can share some information or photos on how their boats are made.

    Serial number through diagnostic tool?

I have the Rinda Diacom software and it shows the engine serial number (assuming you have a fuel injected engine of recent vintage)

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

We all have our preferences . . . I've not been happy with the GM vehicles I've owned, and have favored the Fords over the years. My understanding is that the 'flutter' or 'oscillation' as it is sometimes called is often caused by a failing actuator. My next steps are to check the wastegate...

    F-150 Transmission Issues (I think? . . . No, I thought )

After some delay, I have done some more research and have found a few videos of the exact noise that I have been hearing upon hard acceleration. The noise sounds like what others have diagnosed as 'wastegate flutter' My truck sounds exactly like this . . . So, this week, I will see about...

Twin Merc V8 and different fuel usage

If the % difference is low, then it may be the accuracy of the calculations, etc. Maybe not worth any concern.

Twin Merc V8 and different fuel usage

As a percent . . . how far off are the engines? RPM the same? Isn't the fuel usage a calculated amount (based on injector pulse and RPM)?

    Freshwater Boat to Saltwater

Bottom paint (anti-fouling bottom paint) Outboard engine or sterndrive? If sterndrive (I/O) then good anodes for salt water.

Official Recall Notification U.S. Federal Boat Safety Act:

That part (35-802893XX) is one of the 'can' style spin-on fuel filters (right?) So, it is the o-ring profile (square vs. round) is what is being referred to. (right?) Thanks for sharing. (y)

    Joystick reliability

Not sure that is a common issue . . . never heard about that . . . probably not a joystick related issue. Are you salt water? If so, the 8.2 engines are not well-suited for salt water. OB's would be better. I think there is a 400 SLX w/OB's in our harbor. You can load those boats up with a...

    Joystick reliability

Mercury/Mercruiser? I have a twin engine boat, Mercruiser 6.2L / 350 HP with the Axius joystick system. Nothing about the transom - not sure what you are referring to. If your boat is OB's, then it is 3 engines (right) I/O are still 2 (right?) Anyway, the joystick takes a while to get used...

    Upholstery Question 1

It could be 'Z' Brackets . . . See illustration. It is a common technique for backrests and sidewall cushions & bolsters. Look along the lower edge for a metal 'hold-down' strap.

    Help understanding survey conductivity ratings

Hard for us to provide much more advice, not fully knowing the details (what boat is this?). It would appear that the surveyor is identifying the moisture, but not considering it critical or a show-stopper. Post up the report w/ personal information redacted, if you like.

    Ruined Engine

Do the easy stuff first . . . People often get too much exercise by 'jumping' to conclusions. The Easy stuff: Mechanics stethoscope of source of noise Compression test Cylinder leak test Remove valve covers to visually inspect rocker arms/lifter rods/cylinder heads Check oil for signs of...

    Help understanding survey conductivity ratings

Marine surveys have a lot of 'boiler plate' in them that essentially protects the surveyor from repercussions in case something is overlooked or more significant than stated. It's a normal thing. I usually focus on the findings and recommendations sections of the survey and decide for myself...

    Help understanding survey conductivity ratings

Translating to normal speak . . . The swim platform showed higher levels of moisture around the fasteners The transom show higher signs of moisture The stringers, where accessible, showed signed of elevated moisture, but there were no signs of delamination. There was some percussion testing of...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Wow . . . nightmare. Hopefully they will get it sorted out. It might be between the dealer and Mercury, but you would think Chappy would know how it should be set and do it at the factory.

    Gas leaking from tank inlet

Is the boat parked on level ground or is the bow slightly uphill? Agree the vent may be clogged, but that may have shown up during the water test.
