    Fish Finder Menu Map

Not hard to believe at all......If you need a "menu map" for users to operate the equipment, your HMI design team failed in their job of designing an intuitive interface ;) The reason I went with Garmin, other than CHIRP performance, was how intuitive the menu systems is. I've owned multiple...

HELIX Software Update Instructions NOTICE! To ensure a smooth update process, please keep the unit powered on until the update is fully completed. Interrupting the power supply during the update can result in system instability or data loss. It is crucial for the integrity of the update that the...

    1996 venom 200 double problems tachometer/reverse

A bad/failing voltage regulator will cause issues with the tachometer. Shift cable worn out or out of adjustment “So I’ve been told” is a red flag…..trust but verify

    Fuel vent question

Blow compressed air back through the vent. Quite possible the vent is water logged Run into several boats over the years that were slow to fill because of the orientation of the fill and vent. Boat would take fuel w/o incidence on the trailer, yet kept kicking out on the water

Shot in the Dark Depth Transducer Compatibility

The hummingbird units he posted above run at 200kHZ which is a pretty typical frequency for sonar units in general. The the thru hull is 200 kHZ as well, certainly, no reason it wouldn't work except the pin outs in the connector

Shot in the Dark Depth Transducer Compatibility

Unfortunately, transducer wiring is for the most part proprietary to a specific makes and models. If you have a part number for the transducer you can find a list of compatible units. Doubt your going to find a "fishing" transducer compatible with a simple depth gauge

Bouncing Tilt and Trim on Way Down

Sounds like you have a bunch of air and or water the system. I had both when I replaced the trim motor a couple of years back. Trim must be raised to add fluid to the system.

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

The problem with these types of discussions is that “good performance” is subjective. Is holding bottom at speed the standard? Is marking a walnut at 60’ the standard? Is marking a fish in the water column at 35 mph the standard? The two standards I use….. Can I mark individual fish at my...

    Unusual Bilge pump power issue

A “common” in a DC circuit?. Every ground on the boat must be tied back (have continuity) to a common source (battery post) to prevent ground loops. Grounding point for voltage tests should not matter As such, the entire ground path is easily verified by checking continuity between component...

How much slip does your prop have ?

Diameter and # of blades have an effect on thrust, but play no role in the “pitch” of the prop.

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

Thru hull is the only way to go from a performance perspective. I’m running a B75M as primary. Holds much better at speed than the GT 51 side scan transducer on the transom. Problem is, most take issue with drilling a 3-4” diameter hole in the bottom of their boat Running

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

The issue you run into is that the aluminum "rings" and distorts the frequency of the sonar returns. If it's an actual CHIRP or a side viewing unit, forget it. Vexilar markets a shoot thru for aluminum boats. I have no personal experience but not heard much good about them from a performance...

What Brand of Brake pads are best quality? What do you guys use for quality?

Put Hawks Performance pads on my Civic EX. Great brakes, stop on a dime, but dusted heavily. Got tired of the dust and swapped them out for PowerStop Ceramic pads and coated rotors while I was at it. Pads holding up well. Rotors are still rust free after 10 months(y) For the F150, I stayed...

My 1998 Seaswirl boat wiring harness has a lot of corrosion in the 12+ pin connector

The pins are crimped. Ideally using a ratchet crimper, but I've done many with a hand crimper. Easy job once you figure out how to release the pins from the socket. They make pin releases but a very small bladed (1/8” wide) screwdriver does the trick.

'02 Merc 4 Stroke - Diagnosing bad ECU?

From the above attached manual...........pages 111 and 112 If (#1 and/or #2) or (#3 and/or #4) is not sparking, swap the White/Green and Green/White stator wires and retest. If the problem moves to the other cylinders, the stator is likely bad. If no change, replace all CDMs. A continued no...

    Unusual Bilge pump power issue

Black wire disease is real Typically occurs in the first 4-6" of wire back from a connection. Could be ground, but positive side is more common. You'll need an ammeter unless you measure the voltage with the pump running
