Sustainable Electrical Setups for Older Motors

Like water, there are two components to electricity, Voltage and Current Voltage is the equal to pressure Current is equal to flow If you want to power your "accessories, you need to calculate current demand over time (flow) to power them. Voltage is important, but not for this exercise

    Axle Tube Drain Holes?

One has to ask themselves…….how did the axle make it 40+ years if it needed additional (drain) holes to keep from rusting out? Don't fix someone that isn't broken….lol

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

ugh..... that may be your problem. Schematic shows both batteries tied together (normal) then grounded to "system" through the battery charger ground

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

OK, we have power ........ kind of.. Have you checked the primary battery voltage? I see you have a 12V Fridge. It wouldn't take long to kill a battery Very well could be, but it depends on how the system is wired. Every circuit (fuse outlet) has to be grounded. Ideally each is run back to...

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

Sounds like your back feeding the circuits through ground. Hopefully you didn't blow anything by applying power to ground Lets get some terminology straight... don't see a "bus bar" per say on the schematic. I see a power distribution panel feed by a 60 A red wire. Within that panel should...

Only select Items 12v and 110 will work on my boat...Very puzzled

Started reading thru this thread this morning. Very confusing.... your jumping all over the place. You need to start at the supply (batteries) and work your way back The odds of your problem being the "bur bar" is next to nil. Wouldn't spend another 10 seconds working from that perspective...

    2024 75 Mercury outboard

What Vessel view unit did you install? You’re attempting to install analog gauges on a digital motor. Need some sort of a convertor to get analog signals. Did you get the right harness and convertor box? Found this…don’t know if it’s any help or not...

Ride quality on 1999 Grady white 263 chase

The SeaV2 hull was implement on the 26’ around 1991 or so. Made some changes to the transom in the late 90’s but nothing of any real consequence from a ride perspective Scuppers should not be an issue

    Battery disconnect while running engine

DTS (fly by wire) or not, the TPS sensor supplies the ECM with throttle position feedback from the throttle body. Not familiar with the control scheme of this particular motor, but most typically interrupt/disable the fuel delivery system (fuel pump) when they loose throttle position feedback...

benefits of side bunks..... are there really any?

Depends on boater's experience, how much deadrise the boat has and whether or not the bunks are set up to to match the profile of the hull. Having a deep V hull, my trailer is setup as a "drive on" with both target and support bunks. With this setup, the boat pretty much centers itself once you...

    Trailer Painting

Plating is an electrolytic deposition process. Typically only a couple 1/1000" of an inch thick at best. You want "Hot Dip" on a trailer.....hardware too, if at all possible

Very Odd Fuel/Power Issues with ‘20 60HP Mercury EFI.

The hesitation and lack of throttle could be the throttle position sensor. The extra fuel could be a MAP sensor or a bad fuel pressure module. I suspect your beep is a fuel restriction of some type, but you really need to get a code off the motor. You will go broke just throwing parts at an EFI.

Question Spooling an old Senator 4/0 Reel with no Level Line.

People don’t realize how much mono actually stretches. Claimed to be upwards of 30% with some lines. My mono (#40) "way back" rods are 300 yds., 175 yds. and 150 yds. back from the boat. If you use the 10% figure, that is 30 yards of stretch that gets wound back on the spool under load. A lot...
