    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Do you mean do I still have a Formula boat? No . . . I did however fix the clutch on the Bravo 3s on my Formula 330. One of the clutches started having trouble at about 950 hours.

    STUCK 6.2L MPI

A 'ping' could be anything maybe the the key aligning the balancer to the crank shaft broke . . . who knows. Since you had to put a bit of force (torque) on the crankshaft bolt, it may be worth a look at the balancer/pulley.

1990 ish Evinrude 25 HP - Screeching from the controls

Thanks @racerone . . . that would be a quick check to see if water is pumping.

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

I'll have to check the actuator vs. the actual shifting, but it is a good point, given the electronic shifting/throttle controls. I assumed (so far) it is the clutch delay, since it seems to 'kick in' with a bit of throttle.

1990 ish Evinrude 25 HP - Screeching from the controls

Some of our peeps were going to take the Boston Whaler 13 out to meet us at the big boat yesterday, but they had trouble with the engine (Evinrude 25 HP 1990 vintage). The boat would not go above idle speed and then there was a loud screeching noise (maybe an alarm of some sort) coming from the...

    Dumb-dumbs at the Dock . . .

After a day out doing the boat/beach thing we came back to the local dock to unload peeps and gear. We noticed a family at the dock and some of them (mostly kids) were jumping off the dock into the water as boats were coming in. We assumed that they (parents) were smart enough not to have...

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Thought for the day . . . It occurred to me yesterday as we were using the boat that I am getting 'delayed shifting' on the port outdrive. Mostly going into forward, as it takes a bit of RPM increase to 'feel' the drive engage. I'll have to do some more checking to verify, but it would...

    Mercruiser 8.2 w/Cats & Closed Cooling Question

Not me. Looks like @OSeaD37PC is in for a rough ride with those 8.2's. Probably best to upgrade to the next generation of exhaust, instead of the 3-CAT style. @alldodge - I do remeber seeing the 3-CAT exhaust for the 8.2's now that you mentioned it. The 8.2's are definitely a 'fresh...

    2000 Bayliner Misfire?

You mention surging at idle speeds and a misfiring, and now the boat does not want to get up on plane. So, is it surging, misfiring, or both? You said you checked for codes. Does that mean you have a scanner? If so, you may want to check the TPS readings while idling and even getting on...

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

My next step into the journey of digital Mercruisers is the Joystick. It seems like the joystick needs 'calibration' of some sort, because the boat mostly goes backwards with most movements of the joystick. The 'yaw' to port works OK, and crab to port sometimes is OK, but yaw and crab to...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

FWIW - the Steering Angle sensing needed to be set to the source of 'TVM' instead of the various 'PCM' options. Then it started working.

    Mercruiser 8.2 w/Cats & Closed Cooling Question

Why 12 Catalytic Converters? Should be 1 per side, just like all the other parts.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I went something like 8 for 8 today . . . (y) Also figured out how to get the steering angle indicator working, which has been a great help around the dock. Since the joystick is not calibrated, I am using old school approach, now that I can see where the steering is at.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

3 for 3 today on 'System OK' today. . . , but I don't want to jinks it  I think the accessory battery likes the help of the Inverter battery bank, and that is also helpful doing the sandbar thing with tunes going, etc. My next challenge is getting the Joystick calibration sort out. I...

    Gimble bearing question

VP does not make bearings, so the SKF is what they used. Although I'm surprised a bit that it is not a Timken brand bearing. It could be a bum bearing if it feels rough. I also find that the pre-greased bearings are not all that much greased. Not sure there is a way to add grease to them though.

Preferred method to fog a Cat equipped engine?

My Mercruiser Manual (6.2L ECT (CATS)) states to use the 10% 2-cycle mix. So, it must not be all that bad . . . . . . One thing I did notice is that the ECT engine do not like to run out of fuel. I usually empty the fuel tank and then add 5 gallons of the 'mix' back into the tank.

    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

You can try a bunch of different props, but you probably want to stick with the one that matches your needs the best. Keep in mind that a prop that gets you the best top speed may not be very good for water sports. I'd try the 4 blade . . . maybe even a 'HighFive' if you can find one. But...

1998 EBBTIDE Mystique 2300 open bow seats

Greetings, Not sure if you have this figured out, since it has been a few days . . . Seat backs are often held by 'Z' brackets and a 'tie-down' strap. If you can post pictures of some of the key areas you mention, that may help with responses

    Torque Roll?

Hello @harringtondav Extra weight (on port side) or trim tabs are about your best approaches. What is the pitch of the prop and are you reaching your specified RPM's at WOT? SX outdrive is single prop (right?)
