2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I also needed to upgrade the USB cable itself . . . which was not free  The software upgrade itself was free, since I already had a prior version.

    Winch Strap longevity

Probably defective or undersized for the job. It would not deteriorate in a mere 3 months.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Me too !!! It should, since I'll know more of what is going on behind the curtain. . . so-to-speak. $330 for the cables is probably small $$$ in the long run, considering the amount of things that can go wrong with these engines. I'm waiting on a 'USB Configuration File' from Rinda...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I'm going to upgrade my Diacom software today and see about getting the right cables. I won't be back at the boat until next week, so hopefully I'll have what I need to take the diagnostics to the next level. These VesselView warnings are about as useful as a Check Engine Light

    Looking for owners manual

Greetings and welcome to iBoats . . . If you have not found a link by Google searching, then the manual probably does not exist. Many boats of 20+ years ago did not come with much documentation, mostly safety and navigation stuff as the others have mentioned.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

10K ohms would work . . . I can get a linear Potentiometer at that resistance range,

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Question for those following along . . . maybe @muc @Fun Times , etc. . . . I believe my engines have the PCM 112 controller, but not sure. If not then they probably have the PCM 09 controller. Anyway the Rinda diacom adapters are the same for either. 94029 ( at a $249 ransom 🤪 ) and...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Yes, bring on the neanderthal engines. :ROFLMAO: My MEFI-1 seemed like a cakewalk compared to these new-fangled engines. I'll be getting the adapters I need for my Diacom and at least a new trim sender. It would be so nice if the VesselView would just tell me a bit more about the 'Critical...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Here are the warnings Du Jour . . . . . . I would really like toi know what thew 'critical' low voltage is. Probably should clear up the trim sender issue first.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Thanks @muc Definitely a learning process. Yes, I will fix the trim sender issue. Today the VesselView4 complained profusely . . . like a toddler on a hot day. 🤪 I am getting other warnings, which I am not certain if they are caused from the trim sender or yet another issue. I'll post the...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Well, my joy is short lived. The stupid thing now is upset that the trim sender is ‘missing’. I may get one and just plug it in to keep the thing happy. Also getting a Critical voltage warning and a steering warning on that engine. It seems like that steering does not like going to full...

    Axius Gen1 boat personality file

Thanks, @achris . . . Not too sure about my boat's 'personaility' other than it has a mind of its own when it comes to joysticking. I am still getting used to it, but all too often it seems to want to back the boat up rather than rotate it with like movements of the joystick. I often revert...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Since the 'digital' (3 wire) senders are about $150 each, and probably last only 3-5 years, I may re-rig the trim sending system to use mechanical bits for the under water part and electrical up inside the engine bay. I did something similar quite a few years ago with my old boat and the system...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Yes, that is what I figured. So if the sender gets full of water (salt water) it will drag the 5 volt reference down.

    Axius Gen1 boat personality file

I have one of these 'new technology' boats . . . and it is a different world. Jury is still out if it is any better. I recently read about the 'personality file' in my documentation set and have no idea what it does for the system, other than it needs a personality :ROFLMAO: Too bad all...

    1708 for stringers

The 1708 (i.e. triaxial stitched cloth) cuts fine. If you need it in certain widths (like for tabbing) then certainly no harm in using it. I've always bought the 50" roll stock. A tip for using 1708 is that you should liberally soak the underside of the cloth with resin, not needing to add...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

As mentioned, it is the new (digital) 3 wire sender. I'm not sure exactly how they work vs. the analog style, but it seems that the 5 volts from the PCM power is brought to the sender as a reference and can be dragged down if the sender fails. As for the vinyl (records) I still have some...

Do you use non ethanol gas ?

I use regular gas, always have . I often would get gasoline at gas stations for use in the boats, rather than the marina gas. Never had a problem.

    Solar Power Installation . . .

Quick Update . . . The solar charging system is working out quite well. The boat has been sitting on its mooring all week. As I had hoped the solar panel voltage has risen well above the battery voltage and the current has come down. . Panel Voltage . Battery Voltage. . . . Panel Amps . . ...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

SOLVED !!! 😃 It was the trim sender. Once I disconnected it the low voltage went away. The starboard trim sender has been faulty since before I bought the boat, but there was not enough time (motivation) to fix it before launching. The low voltage warning was not present when test running...
