Need to keep scope to a bare minimum when fishing structure or living lining with the fleet.
I carry 250' of 3/8" DB with 10' of 3/8" chain and a #16 Danforth.
Most people don't understand the saturation point of E10 varies with the temperature of the fuel.
Fill up with 90F fuel and it cools to 80F at night, you're dumping water in the bottom of the tank.
Works the other way as well. Pump 60F fuel from an under ground tank into a tank of 90 F fuel...
Not necessarily......E10 can hold approximately 0.5% water at 68F (.64 ounces in a gallon, or 12 ounces of water in a 20-gallon gas tank)
I hold 150 gallons of fuel. At 68 degrees, that is 3/4 gallon of water each time I fill up
Components used/mounted in enclosed area must be UL listed......2.5 minutes exposure to open flame
You can use a clear bowl on an I/O, just can't be mounted in an enclosed space (bilge) or same compartment as an internal combustion engine, ie dog house...
CMap and Navionics are different map formats now owned by competing companies. Garmin own Navionics and Simrad owns CMap
Don't know of any units that support both formats
Guessing the hook doesn't have enough memory to load the entire chart data
You can buy a Racor filter with drain bowl for less than $30 that fits your existing filter head.
From that point, replacement filters are $22.
How much is an OE can filter these days?
That's a unlighted fish trap or anchorage buoy.
Nav aides get moved, replace and removed all the time. Unless a fixed structure (light tower, nav buoy, etc.) good luck finding an unidentified marker in open water from 20 years ago.
It will work, but the Furuno uses an Ethernet (Cat 5) connector on the output to connect to the MFD.
The Navico uses a connector of their own design. Would need to find an adapter to connect the Furunuo to your unit
The Blues Seas has both a charge and isolation functions.
It will not open the charge relay until it see 13.2 volts and it will not connect to a battery that has less than 12.4 volts.
Your house battery (12.1V) isn't charging because the voltage is too low.
There is a voltage and amperage...
The biggest influencer of fuel consumption is the weather.
What conditions will you be facing the day of your journey?
It's 80 miles each way to the canyons to fish. Typically cruise 27 kts, 4400 rpm (5950 rpm red line) in a 22' outboard powered boat
In flat, windless conditions I get 2 mpg...
While I have radar available, my first line of defense is NOAA WX on VHF.
NOAA broadcast the current location of the storm cell(s) and the current heading(s) and speed.
If the storm's path is in your vicinity, you should have no problem putting an eyeball on the storm cell to see if I need to...
How about option 3....none of the above.
The GXM 30 was discontinued 15 years ago. Replaced multiple times since. Now the GX54 @ $900 plus annual XM subscription.
Just not a fan of XM at all. When all is said and done radar is the best and most cost effective technology.
All this winter talk is making me cold....
Heading to the beach for 8 days next weekend. Come back and get the boat ready to go back in the slip for 6 weeks for the fall Striper season.
A txt is far less intrusive and more efficient than a phone call.
I'm a Director of Sales. Don't have a land line in my office. Don't want or need one. Everything is done via text, email or Teams meeting.
Can sit in a meeting and have a conversation with a Service engineer or a customer w/o...
Because "stuff" happens that is out of control of even the best Captains.
The best defense is to not put a passenger in a position to be injured to begin with. I enforce the rule nobody forward of the helm while the boat is in motion.
In most States it's illegal to ride on the bow while in...
Many moons past, I forgot to latch the hitch on the way out on a 4 am fishing trip.
Fortunately, the hitch came off just as I was pulling out of the driveway. No damage, but a valuable lesson to double check everything before leaving.
