    Mercruiser 888

What elevation in regards to sea level are you? Is your carburetor the correct marine 2 barrel Holley version? Are you sure that your boat does not have water or mud trapped inside? I once had a customer who bought a boat that must have sunk at one time and it had mud trapped in the double...

    Mercruiser 888

Ford went to the 13726548 for a reason. The hp gain must have had something to do with the firing order and increased durability. The same engine had 225 hp with a 4 barrel. You will most likely never get the torque in the right rpm range that the original cam profile delivered. I am no...

    1968 Crestliner Buccaneer w OMC Inboard 80hp

This engine also came in Ford Pintos 1600 cc. In my humble opinion he should just drain the oil from the drive and if there is no water then just refill it. Pulling that drive apart to reseal it if it does not need to be done is flirting with disaster.

Bravo 3 steering cable stuck in housing

It looks like water is draining over the area probably from the engine hatch. Try to seal the area or make a shield to direct the water past the steering system.

If the rotor is not turning while the starter is turning the engine over then there are a lot more problems internally in the engine.

    New purchase SX-M

How about using a few pounds of compressed air instead of water? There also might be a vent hole in the top of the housing that you will have to plug. A piece of aluminum the diameter size of the pivot housing end with a schreader valve and a plug in the bearing should work. Then with some...

    New purchase SX-M

I have repaired a few Mercruisers with the housing either damaged or eroded away. First remove the stiffening wire from inside the bellows if there is one. Turn the bellows inside out, this makes it easy to grind off the raised bead. Reverse the process and put it back together. Just be sure...

OMC 140hp with 400 stringer sterndrive lots of questions!

Did you replace the solenoids with the correct marine style? Most marine solenoids are “non grounded base”. Also marine solenoids are sealed so they will not create a open spark. Is there power to the battery side of the solenoids? There are two 50 amp fusees, 1 powers the instrument panel...

    I have a leak.

It might be one of the sacrificial anode bolts, they can be replaced without removing the engine. my bad with the key board.

    I have a leak.

It might be one of the sacrificial anode bolts, they can be replaced without removing the engine depending on how the boat is built and how flexable your body is. Otherwise the engine needs to come out.

    1987 3.0L water in oil

Usually there is a pinhole near the rear of the block on the bottom of the water jacket. That is the thinnest part of the casting. If you have an engine stand fill the water jacket with water then blow air under the jacket area and you will probably find the leak.

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

A good time to look at the through hull intakes. Does your boat have one for each engine?

    I have a leak.

Does the leak happen on the trailer with a flush out? Or does it leak in the water without the engine running?

Just keep in mind that fresh water marine engines still need brass core plugs.

1997 5.7l water in oil. replace?

You will find a crack in the valley, also look closely at the underside of the intake manifold under the thermostat housing area. Most times the exhaust manifolds crack also.
