Volvo Penta GXi-E Low Power and 2 DTCs

BTW - as far as fault codes (DTC's) even though you clear them, they will come right back if the issue still remains. . . as you may have figured out.

Volvo Penta GXi-E Low Power and 2 DTCs

I loaded my Diacom SW and ran the recording . . . The two '41' codes are present as stated. This engine (MEFI-4) is a lot newer than my engine (MEFI-1), so I'm not familiar with some of values . . . Here is a clip of the values while the engine was run up to WOT and then back down. It...

Volvo Penta GXi-E Low Power and 2 DTCs

I'll have to load the Diacom software to my new computer ( I got rid of the old one that had it installed). . . but I can possibly do that this weekend. Fault code 41 is the EST ignition system, but it sounds like you have replaced a bunch of stuff related (and unrelated) to the EST fault...

    2007 Larson 370 Cabrio

Another thing you may want to do is learn more about how boats are built. That way, in evaluating used boats, both now and in the future, you can better assess what issues you may have in owning and maintaining a boat. An important aspect of a boat's construction is the material used. Wood...

    2007 Larson 370 Cabrio

I have a 330SS. It is a bit bigger than the 310. The 310 is a nice boat, and I believe it has a better ride than my boat since it is a 22 degree hull.

    2007 Larson 370 Cabrio

Go big or go home. 🤪 You will certainly be on a steep learning curve, so take it slow and be safe. Remember . . . boating is dangerous, and only looks like fun. :D

    2007 Larson 370 Cabrio

My thoughts . . . Not your first boat I assume? What are you coming from as a previous boat? Bottom paint is a thing in salt water. Props too. Raw water cooled engines in salt water will give you about 15 years of use, then there is too much rust scale within the engine for it to be viable...

    New DIY Learning Curve

Nice work . . . I have yet to do much of that type of work. Forced Hot water heating in my homes. The only time I had problems with the ducting on the exhaust vent of the oil burner (heater) I contracted the repairs out. It cost about 2X of what I thought it should . . .

Need a floor fastener for fiberglass, screws all stripped

Are we talking stripped out of a solid fiberglass floor/deck or a fiberglass/wood core floor/deck? It might make a difference if there is wood core and it has become wet/rotted.

    Reseal cabin door frame

It's OK with me . . . but . . . make sure you have determined the exact source of the leak and are addressing it appropriately. I suspect that in a heavy rain, the water ducting around the door perimeter is overflowing and the seals are not holding the water back. Maybe you can use the garden...

How to Remove Several Coats of Bottom Paint?

Media blasting as suggested or as a DIY, you could try a product called "Peel Away" which will soften the paint and make it easier to remove with a putty knife / scraper. I would avoid any significant sanding as that approach could result in damage to the gelcoat. Expect it to take a...

Should I buy a boat that has been sitting in storage for 15 years?

Does it have the proper paperwork? 15 years sitting in storage is something that would warrant some further investigation. Have a Marine survey done and make sure the boat is the dealer's to sell. See what the title requirements are for your state and if the title was transferred when the...

    Bowrider

10 people, comfortable, water sports, day long outings . . . I'd be thinking 28 foot bowrider with twin engines. Not sure you could actually do water skiing with 8-10 people in a boat. Tubing and maybe wake boarding . . .

    Hull stringer material

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine bay of a 2004 Sea Ray 225 Weekender . . . The structural areas (stringer, battery tray, etc) look to have laid-up fiberglass based on the texture . . . . . So it would be fair to say it is not a molded fiberglass stringer grid (which would be...

    Hull stringer material

2004 and thereabouts was a turning point for the boat building industry. The manufacturers who used wood and desired to stay with wood went to KDAT types of plywood . . . product names like 'Perma Panel' and 'Greenwood XL' may appear in their promotion materials. Their products are pressure...

    Relocating Axels

Yes, a few of us have. There are a few threads on the task and what you will need to do. If you have some weights (guesstimates of boat & trailer will do, along with current and desired tongue weight) and some dimensions of the trailer & axle position, then you can 'plug and chug' into a...

Replacing gear lube hose between transom and bell housing

Removing the drive . . . or disassembling the bell housing from the gimbal? I'm not thinking videos about removing the outdrive would even mention the gear lube hose. Got any links to those videos??? Now that you are in a heck of a mess, attaching a new length of hose is a PITA . . . BTDT...
