    Some good stuff happening

It's been a while, but I'm now getting more garage work done in preparation for our next project. The goal is to organize the shop better and to provide more room. The first step was to clean a bit and make some more room. And the next thing was to finally install the plastic pegboards my...

I'm getting unknown sender emails that I can't block

Today I've received 3 emails (so far) from an Unknown Sender with subjects like Fat Burning Secrets, You've Been Chosen and so on. Seriously scamming but I'm having a problem. I'm on Windows 10, using Outlook 2016 installed on my laptop. With other such emails I simply right-click on them...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks guys. I'm just glad to be able to do stuff and provide updates. 😏 We had rain here overnight and most of the day today, heavy at times, so the tarp and bow system got tested. I'm happy to report that it worked well! @Moserker Frankly, in the decades that I've owned boats, I've...

Starcraft 1971'? 16' to Duck Boat Rebuild

I used t-nuts under the deck on my Kingfisher but ran into a problem. I didn't put a backing plate over the t-nuts to fully keep them in place, just glued them down. When I installed the seats, long after the deck was fully installed, I knocked a couple of the t-nuts loose and they went down...

    Rec gas prices???

Our regular gas jumped from $4.19 this morning to $4.39 this afternoon. That's up 80 cents in 4 days. And one station is charging $4.44.

    Rec gas prices???

I'm glad that I don't use much fuel with my Kingfisher. I only used about 4 gallons for the whole season last year. 🤪

    Rec gas prices???

Regular jumped another 20 cents overnight here, from $3.99 to $4.19.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We also installed a bow style cover elevation setup. Old school. I mounted four brackets for the 2 bows, a pair up front and another set amidships near the steering wheel. Someday I'll get a custom cover made, but for now it's a Harbor Freight 12.5' by 20' silver tarp. After the tarp...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We went fishing with the KF on 21 Feb 22, President's Day; so my wife was off work and the boy wasn't in school. It was a nice trip. First in a very long time for us as a family. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/nobody-fishing.731114/post-5740211 Sadly, the trailer lights didn't work again...

Nice find on that aluminum donor boat! (y)

How long after applying vinegar on aluminum hull can I wait before applying SE primer?

I used the cleaning vinegar several years ago when I was working on my Kingfisher. I only waited a few hours from cleaning to painting, so it wasn't a big deal and worked very well. For my Chieftain, it could be days or even weeks between cleaning and painting, hence the question. Got some...

    Nobody fishing?

We got back on the water today. It's been since July of last year for the boy and myself, but nearly a year since my wife has been on the water. The boy got the first fish, a pickerel. I caught up a short time later with the first bass of the year. My wife got skunked, but I let her have a...

    Check your furnace filter

    Yah. BTDT. 😏

    Check your furnace filter

Yup. Same situation with our AC filter here. Last year when I was installing the new driveway, there was lime rock dust everywhere. The house wasn't cooling like normal and we discovered that the AC filter was seriously clogged even though it was less than a month old.

'74 Holiday 18 Restore Mod.... Convert to open bow.

I had that same setup on my Kingfisher for the old style pulley and cable steering system. I trashed that and switched to the modern setup. Filled the old holes and moved on.

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

My wife tested negative yesterday morning and came out of isolation. (y) The boy is still "locked up" but we're hoping that he'll be able to come out tomorrow afternoon. He's banned from school until Feb 22nd, but is doing his school work remotely. Once he's out, I'm hoping that we can get...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

I photo-edited the "super simple" scheme. No added trim or logos and I left the spray rail white this time. Leaving it "blank" like this would probably save me a couple of month's time.

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

I'm very lucky that my wife can not only paint the stripes and whatnot, but that she actually enjoys doing so. She's an artist and loves that stuff. 🎨👩‍🎨 That being said, going super simple is a lot easier and faster. Just paint it white and slap on the registration stickers. Painting the...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

My wife and the boy were both double vaccinated, so they have breakthrough cases. I'm triple vaccinated and keeping them in strict isolation. Gotta stay safe! Working by myself outside alone isn't recommended. But, it may come to that eventually. ;)
