1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

Ive been out of town and the foam is done! Looks great Joe! Glad to see you move onto the flooring. For the bilge pumps, I ran my wires above deck so no need to install before putting the deck in. Are you running plumbing under the deck for wiring? Under the driver side gunnel there should...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Time on the water is definitely good for your health! I reused my PO's switches and wish I didnt in the nice mahogany dash I built - either panel you showed is way nicer than mine. Buy a common sized switch panel thats of decent quality and go for it. Even cheap ones should function for quite...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Glad you fought and won SM! Cancer is a real $&@?!. Ive lost far too many friends and family to it. Enjoy every day you can. As far as the switches go, mine sure arent waterproof haha. But they are "protected" by a bimini and hide behind the windshield on the dash. My fuse box is from blue...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

Boats coming along nicely Joe. When I redid the floors in my boat, I tried to use existing holes that were already there. Problem is they had loosened up over the years and sometimes the rivets wouldnt grip anymore. I ended up putting half of them in new holes regardless, and I found out the...

    New Journey

Cant comment on the trailer as I dont have enough experience there. But the paint and floor look great!!! I think grey is a good color on these boats, especially when geared towards fishing.

    198x SS-150 rebuild

I used coat-it inside the hull and my PO used it outside on the whole bottom of the hull. I dont leak a drop. It seeped into a few spots on the seams noticeably, and otherwise made a nice covering on each rivet inside. Where it seeped in I hit it again and it didnt seep in anymore. No...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Id put the gluvit right over the factory goop and thats it. If anything, apply a second layer of gluvit if needed. No 5200 on top of it. Paint not necessary but you could. I noticed where I painted over some 5200 on my transom, paint started to crack as the 5200 shrunk.

    1970’s StarCraft 21’ Cuddy Cabin

Welcome @AlamoJack !! Lots of pictures are always appreciated, especially when you have a big puzzle to finish. Cool thing about these old aluminum boats is that they can be customized to whatever suits your needs. Its all fairly simple once you figure out what goes where, and you came to the...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Thank you. It turns a lot of heads and only I notice all its imperfections lol. When you know every square inch its hard not to, but all that work is worth it when she gets compliments. Best part it is how these boats ride, just cut through the water and keep going. 44 years n counting.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Just a little fun on the Sacramento river over the weekend. I had never boated a river before. She handled everything flawlessly, including dodging debris and submerged trees. Took a few friends for a ride down to a charity club event, probably 20 miles. Burnt more fuel than I ever have...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I believe watermann gave the advice of running a magnet along each rib to help clean them out. Cant tell you how much ferrous metal I found that was lodged in there. After that they flushed out quite well.

Flex Seal on a Leaky Aluminum Boat?

A previous owner covered the outside hull below waterline with coat-it. Its extremely durable and already UV resistant. I covered it with paint cause it looked ugly. Also sealed my rivets with it inside. I couldnt remove the stuff with paint remover and sand paper on an orbital is the only...

    196X Starcraft Mariner 16

That all sounds like a good plan. Seal the rivets inside the hull, below waterline, with gluvit or coat-it. Other than that you will never see under the floor boards so painting down there is just unnecessary.

    196X Starcraft Mariner 16

Front section is the bow. Start by getting your new foam and floors in first. To keep the floor from bowing you have to use a backer between the floor sheets, either AL or wood. AL is lighter and stronger. The AL starcraft used though is too thin and will let the floor bow. Then use some LF...
