That’s a really cool bit of history there! Do they run on 50:1 or are they richer?

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Thanks. I’m going to go through the electrical again. Could a bad cdi cause these issues?

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Thanks, would this happen in service or by bad rebuild? I’d doesn’t look like anyone has ever opened it up

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

Guys I need help with this one still. Spark strength was 1/2” on 2 cyls, but about 1/4 to 3/8 on bottom. 3 new plug wires later, same issue. Switched out a coil pack for another used one, same performance. My head is back to a plugged low speed circuit. Idles fine in gear. Can slow troll all...

Where to find a solid boat

One of those 16’ Supers would fit the bill for you. Stable, tough boats. Watch for corroded rivets and soft floors at the splashwell, seat mounting areas and between helms

Need advice for when to pull the trigger on new purchase

What about a later model Starcraft Islander? 21-22’? Not sure where you are but in Ontario it’s still a mixed bag. More Covid-Stupid pricing than normal but I’ve seen deals this year. Fortunate enough to pick up a 2000’s glass bow rider fb or under $1k

    Dented pontoon log with tear

Another thought hit me; have the welding shop do a complete check over. (Or do yourself) Check to see if the impact caused any other structural damage such as in the framework between sponsons. Check to be sure sponsons are parallel and square to each other, no buckling, tears etc. I’d assume...

    Dented pontoon log with tear

Any competent welding shop who is set up for aluminum will be able to do that. Shouldn’t cost you more than $1-2k and that’s without seeing it. In my area (Ontario, Canada) so likely half that cost in Ohio. I’d cut off the end bell, straighten and or/section and put the bell back on. Anything...

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Ok so 1995 50 hp and 1995 70 hp numbers are identical. (Piston, rods, cyl head, exhaust plate, crank, intake manifold) Why would OMC/BRP use different part numbers over the years? Not challenging you, I just need to know why and what the differences, if any, could be. Are the only...

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Care to elaborate? I’m not an outboard mechanic. I have 2 conflicting opinions offered to me. Tell me why you are right please so I (and others) can learn from this?

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Interesting to know. Perhaps the BRP parts have minor manufacturing updates over the 2 year span. I’ll check identical years to confirm. The reason for the 93 & 95 years is because I’m looking at buying a donor motor and trying to determine if parts crossover are compatible.

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Thanks that’s what I’ve always thought but Jimmbo is right that there are different part numbers or at least what I’ve found in the BRP lookup. What the actual differences are I have no idea, so I have concerns. Here’s what I’ve found thus far; 50hp vs 70hp part numbers 50 hp 1995 Piston...

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Thanks, do you know if the 50 stands alone in this regard because they aren’t very common and I wonder if by what you are saying, if it is a somewhat “detuned” motor.

    Carbs from 1989 60 on a 1995 50?

Disregard the 1989 compatibility question - I did a parts look up. 1994 and up 60hp and earlier 90’s 70 hp. And only carbs are different by looks of things unless there are changes in timing advance. Still looking into that
