1989 Merc V150 No Alarm Beep

Should be close, I'll scope the levels soon, snow permitting.

1989 Merc V150 No Alarm Beep

So if the 12V was present on the connected white wire (assume it was), then I'd be leaning towards bad sensor.....BUT! Why is it bad? Weird readings too!......The levels are whacked obviously and It's almost as if the magnet that is on the bushing isn't rotating by the sensor probe...

1989 Merc V150 No Alarm Beep

This should help......I perhaps have the logic backwards, it may stay 1V and be a 5V pulse every 2 rev's, and it's active high. I've found conflicting reports and Merc's trouble shooting guide isn't clear (to me anyway), my boat of covered for winter else i'd put a meter on it. I keep looking...

1989 Merc V150 No Alarm Beep

You never said......The motor starts and runs ok? As I recall from a few years back bench testing mine, there were/is certain initial powering up states/parameters that the sensor/s must meet and be in in order for the alarm module to give its tell-tale power up beeping sequence .......see...

2001 Mercury 115HP EFI 4 stroke tachometer not working

Wanted to test the converter, thinking it still might be useful because if it can also accept being connected to the stator (not the dead ECU) BUT with a series limiting resistor, it might just come in handy IF NEED BE for it's buffering abilities. As a test I just used a variable AC 60 hz test...

2001 Mercury 115HP EFI 4 stroke tachometer not working

Few note worthy things that might help.... You'll most likely use your Fluke to cal the tach, as such, just multiply the flukes freq reading while measuring the stator's white signal wire by 10 (not 60 as stated above, that was incorrect for a 12 pole stator, apologies), use that result to adj...

2001 Mercury 115HP EFI 4 stroke tachometer not working

Ch 1/top = in Ch 2/bottom = out A 12V inverter??.....geeesh and here I though $30 would be have at least been perhaps a slight bit more exciting.

2001 Mercury 115HP EFI 4 stroke tachometer not working

So a 10hz pulse (2.5Vp, zero DC offset, 10% duty cycle[10ms wide]) on the 289 (same'ish as yours), frequency setting measures 10hz (duh) at 0.78Vrms on the AC voltage setting. I'm guess the ECU is putting out something very similar and even higher in amplitude. Your 189 should have seen it...

    1999 Mercury XR 6 Outboard

FWIW and beyond the reg's sense lines being identified by the above application........... Above shows app where the reg's sense lines are used in a "remote sense" (oppose to local) configuration to increase the reg's nominal (14.3V) output voltage up in magnitude to a new compensated value...

    Vintage Tach Help

I just borrowed the images off the web, looks like you should be able to get by with just these images? "Breaker-less" just means its an electronic ig.(thyristor/transistor), type II ans III verses mechanical(points), type I. Well...according to your S/N, you SHOULD have a "650E" and according...

Anyone else having issues with Win 10 Remote Desktop Connection? All my Win 7 are fine and I can remote into all of them but, just yesterday and now continuing today, can't get in (remotely) any of my Win 10 machines, running the latest corrurpted-date or not. All of course, are...

    Campion Re-wire project...

Looks waaaay better......... One thing that sticks out? And it's sorta hard to tell from the angle of the photo so it might totally be a moot point BUT!! If the two batt wires in the photo below are physically (or become) pressed against the heat-sink fins edges of your Argofet isolator, if...

    Mercury XR6 fuel loss

Ding makes a good point and If it has an anti-siphon valve, although i think not required by CG as long as the fuel line leaving the tank always stays above the tank...IO or OB, therefor not all boat have them, but some do, I guess I haven't looked to know ever either way.....Not totally clear...

Stator Readings - Reality vs the Manual; Classic 50

I'd think if it were the starter not spinning fast enough causing the no spark, the same no spark failures would occur after normal runs as well? Not just intermittently after only a WOT run? Also, I'd think with a slower then normal crank , he'd still get some spark, it'd just be...
