That icy frost colored paint would look great! Haha. Coat-it looks good. That stuff is tough as nails so you shouldnt have to worry much about leaks.

Heres what I used - a two part epoxy type paste and I smeared it all over my transom which had lots of pitting, some almost all the way through. Nothing to worry about as the structure still remained and after nylon brushing the transom, plus cleaning with a vinegar water solution to neutralize...

Thats some pretty cool old paperwork you found in the new boat! You get it from the original owner?

Only thing I can think of is old timers formula. Probably someone else here with a better idea. But I just added a shutoff valve to my list to install, seems like a good idea after hearing what happened!

Mine had a big crack that I jb welded, sanded, then painted over…. But the u-bolt for the trailer winch hook up would be a better point to lift from. Nose caps are cast aluminum and pretty weak, and not attached well. Wish mine had the OG side rub rail. Not sure which PO(s) took that off...

The gunnels look great! I wanted to do mine like that, admiral shot it down. May have to bring up the idea again once we see your finished work!

    New to me 1970

Flipping is easy once shes apart. Would highly recommend getting under the floor for a peak, especially if you have rivets to do. Usually a foam replacement or upgrade is in order as well. Makes you sleep better at night knowing your hard work wont sink all the way to the bottom. Mine didnt...

    New to me 1970

Sounds like a good plan. Make sure the motor is up to par then the hull is water tight. I replaced around 150 rivets in my boat after I used it for a summer. Stripping paint is fun haha. Make sure your transom and floor are in good shape too. They add structure so if rivets are breaking...

Nice old boat! Welcome. Paint reminds me of mine when I got it. Plenty of work to be done but the hull looks to be in good shape.

An idea for the bimini is putting it on tracks so it gives you a range of positions. Forget where I saw them but I dont remember it being expensive. Wish I did my bimini that way and probably will redo it in the future.

Closed cell foam so doesnt absorb water or anything else. Had fish flopping around on deck and no residue from them stuck around. Gasoline is the exception - that can warp it, cause it to bubble. Siva is right - just vacuum and wash it down. Mine still looks new over a year later.

Nylon cup brush is a safer bet than steel, but slightly less effective. Those dual 90’s on back!! 😍

I used some gorilla glue spray adhesive to secure mine. Once on, its not coming off without scraping it. If yours ever comes up just hit it with some of that stuff.

Never seen a patch with screws instead of rivets, but it sure looks like you built it to withstand anything! Nice job.

Love the steering wheel and flooring! That stuff is so comfy to walk on barefoot. Its why I did mine like that too.
